According to cockeril there is no current return to play date for Dickinson or Marfo.
Mental.

Marfo has a disc problem. Doesn't need at up apparently.

The Dicko one more than anything. I wonder why he hasn't retired?whatisthejava wrote:According to cockeril there is no current return to play date for Dickinson or Marfo.

That's a year out for him already with no proposed return date.
Unfortunate for Marfo and will be even tougher for Edinburgh as they'll lose a couple of props to the 6N again.

BTW in that same conference Cockerill praised McCallum's performances and potential but claimed he is not ready for test rugby. Is he on the money or is he just trying to influence proceedings so that he has options available during the 6N?
I'd pick McCallum over Berghan in a heartbeat. So it's an interesting one.

I think he's probably right but it might be irrelevant. I also agree with you.

I'd be very careful of throwing McCallum on too early. Fagerson was probably thrown in a year too early too.

Re: 6N starting team
Yep. Of course its too soon for McCallum. Just as it was for Fagerson who was pressed into action at a very young age due to our complete shortage of TH options. McCallum has hardly played any pro rugby. Just because Berghan is a bit shit doesn't make McCallum the answer. He's only being talked about due to the current Propageddon. I recall McCallum being a prop on wheels for the U20s a couple of years ago - don't get me wrong I'm far from writing him off - just he has a lot of developng to do. Circumstances may dictate otherwise..Big D wrote:I'd be very careful of throwing McCallum on too early. Fagerson was probably thrown in a year too early too.

Thing is, McCallum may actually be better than Berghan now. If the team genuinely believes that it has a shot at the 6N title don't they have to live in the now and select the best 23? He may be a better prop in 12 months time but by then Russell may be cricked from being overplayed in France, Price has lost form, the Scottish knee fairy has struck and ?Hogg has gotten himself suspended, or something...

Well if the question is "we're down to Berghan or McCallum who do we call up?" The answer is definitely McCallum.ARM wrote:[ Just because Berghan is a bit shit doesn't make McCallum the answer.

Berghan is not a "bit shit" - he is genuinely awful.

Some position we’re in - arguing over who is the least worst answer.OptimisticJock wrote:Well if the question is "we're down to Berghan or McCallum who do we call up?" The answer is definitely McCallum.ARM wrote:[ Just because Berghan is a bit shit doesn't make McCallum the answer.
Berghan has looked quite useful in the Pro14 for a couple of seasons now but he gets his arse handed to him in Tests. Suspect same would happen to McCallum. But then again - I thought Marfo would get crushed so WTF do I know

Still far too lightweight a team to have a shot at the 6N. 3 wins would be a real accomplishment. I think we’ll get 2.switchskier wrote:Thing is, McCallum may actually be better than Berghan now. Ireland
England
France
Wales
Italy
Fixtures in order of difficulty IMO. As with any 6N winning the first fixture is key to creating momentum. The game in Cardiff will be huge.

Me too. However, come the anthem time, I’ll be of completely the opposite opinion, as per.Chunks Baws wrote:True. And I have a horrible feeling we're going to make a complete cunt of it.hugh_woatmeigh wrote: The game in Cardiff will be huge.
Also, £85 a ticket! Bloody hell!

When we went to the Ireland game when we beat them in Croke Park it was 83 euro which was about 65quid back then. Mental prices.General Zod wrote:Me too. A whole pile of us going to Cardiff for the game but the closer we get I think they will get the rub of the green and we will go to sleep for a Liam Williams try

Come kick off I'll be full of drunken hubris. I paid 60 odd in 2016 and had a terrible seat. I'm paying 81 this time, I better have a decent view. Whatever the result it's my second favourite away trip after Paris and I always have a braw weekend.

I hate Cardiff with a passion. I used to go out with a bird from there years ago and hated visiting. It was full of orange oompa loompas and constipated roiders with the exact same tribal tattoo. Is it much different?

You forgot the much-fêted Chip Alley. Other than that, no, it hasn’t changed much.hugh_woatmeigh wrote:I hate Cardiff with a passion. Avoid Mill Lane and most of St Marys Street and you avoid the tango apes.

Jamie Lyall @JLyall93 · 20h
Glasgow being savaged in Dublin. Always likely under the circumstances, but the way Leinster are bullying Warriors up front, then gushing through them out wide, could be an alarming premonition for the Six Nations.
I share his concern.

That's why very few of the Glasgow forwards will start.Chunks Baws wrote:Jamie Lyall @JLyall93 · 20h

No idea how Reid is playing but the starting forwards could be:
Reid
Rambo
Welsh
Gray
Toolis
Barclay
Watson
Wilson/CdP
Bench front row worries me though.
GTs game plan for Scotland is exciting but this 6N really is an acid test to how it will work against physical teams who will compete in every facet of play.
