Oh and I see HW's point on Welsh/Berghan. Coaches seem to see something we don't in BerghanCameo wrote:I think all the changes are fair enough. I am not sure I would have dropped Price or Toolis but no one can really complain. We could really do with Dunbar back though

Gilchrist...nastiness? He’s many things but hard and nasty is not of them. Still a better pick that the massively over-rated Toolis. Yet again it’s a soft and underpowered team but guess you can only piss with the c0ck you’ve got.[/quote]
Meant grunt, but was willing nastiness. Anyway, it would be difficult to be more powder puff than we were in Cardiff.

Cokerill was talking positively about Berghan saying he's good enough for the Test arena but needs to keep focused and his head together.
Cocker's not going to say Berghan's crap but he's not a rent-a-quote type nor the sort to sugar coat his thoughts for the sake of a journo looking for an optimistic perspective. Given Cocker's playing days at Leicester I'd tend to trust his view that there is a Test-level prop there.
IMO Berghan definitely scrumaged better than Fagerson in the first half of the season and there wouldn't be the same noise if Fagerson was selected to start.
I think all would agree that Welsh is the 2nd best scrummager of the Scottish qualified props after WPN, though. I'd have started Welsh.

Berghan who hasn't even played a prem 1 game in the last 2 months? Oh yeah. He'll be super match fit.sharvey44 wrote:Welsh was out on his arse last week with the pace of the game. I'm assuming they think Berghan can deal with the pace for 60min and then Welsh can close it out.

Of course he hasn't been training with everyone else because being banned from playing means that all he could do is spend the last two months sat on a park bench drinking Bucky and eating kebabs. He wasn't injured, he was banned so should be perfectly fine to play a game.

Sorry didn't mean to target you - just annoyed in general at his inclusion. I don't think he will be match sharp, match fit and I think he's crap in a number of respects. I truly hope I'm wrong!sharvey44 wrote:fwck me, you are dramatic.hugh_woatmeigh wrote:Berghan who hasn't even played a prem 1 game in the last 2 months? Oh yeah. This is a most welcome and concisely worded comment, a refreshing change from the technical minutiae of recent days.Big D wrote:Fuck it, no more grumbling until Sunday. Let's get intae these cunts.

I think, or at least it feels like the line outs were slower last week. In the AIs we were getting there then getting in with it. On Saturday I would be tempted to return to that sort of pace of play there and notice the defence time to settle.
It will be interesting to see what the plan is to get Kinghorn involved. I assume it will be for the wing but time will tell.

Yeah I'm very interested to see at what point we deem it appropriate to throw the dice with Denton/Price/Kinghorn etc.Big D wrote:I think, or at least it feels like the line outs were slower last week. Beauxis is a bit average though isnt he?

Beauxis is having a great season with Lyon.
Picamoles wasn't performing as well as usual lately. Brunel trying to kick him back to form. The little I have seen from Tauleigne has been good.

I hadn't realised Dunbar is over his head knock but has picked up a different injury on his return to training. GT says thigh strain will keep him out for "at least the next couple of weeks". He really can't stay fit can he. What a shame.

Wouldn't surprise me to see a fully-fit Dunbar in the 23 for the Calcutta Cup.Mikey Brown wrote:I hadn't realised Dunbar is over his head knock but has picked up a different injury on his return to training. He seems like someone who might have benefitted from a sabbatical NZ style. Could they consider giving him time off until next season after the 6N?Mikey Brown wrote:I hadn't realised Dunbar is over his head knock but has picked up a different injury on his return to training.
