Re: 1872 Cup Runners Up
Cockerill has done a cracking job. They would have lost that game six months ago.
Still not particularly fluid at times but looking like a real team these days with a nice hard edge.

Well done Mr Weir. As I said above, awful delivery from Fowles. Wee fat Dunc had to jump for that ball and then take the drop! Cool head.General Zod wrote:

Re: 1872 Cup Runners Up
Edinburgh have a chance of getting 2nd in pod if they can stay a big horrible team to play.
Weird to think this but they have Munster, scarlets, Glasgow and ulster at home. If they can continue to be a bunch of horrible bastards and get the team behind them they may can't scarlets.
Scarlets have quite a horrible run in with ed, Glasgow, Leinster and Munster
That would be quite an accomplishment for the ed team.

Fuck me. Just caught up with that match. I thought in typical Scottish fashion they'd fucked it up going to the try rather than DG. Very well done to Weir after a shite pass. Great result.

Deans signs until 2020. Seems like a solid signing for me. I don't really see him braking into the international squad so should remain a really good option in the international windows. I also really like his defence, I think he's a good option against some of the more direct teams in the league.

He's been very good for Edinburgh this year and flies under the radar.switchskier wrote:Deans signs until 2020. Seems like a solid signing for me. I wouldn't be against him touring with Scotland as squad filler if GT was to decide to give the main options a summer off and wrap the likes of Dunbar in cotton wool.

He seems really underrated for me. Runs very nice lines and seems a good all rounder. I saw a highlights video for Kinghorn pop up and it relied very heavily on Dean doing good things.

Edinburgh are quietly building a good squad.
The Pro 14 is on its way to having real competition in the top 8ish teams.

Brilliant news that. Can't wait to see him and Bennett in midfield together.OptimisticJock wrote:Matt Scott 2 years. Great news.

Team for the dragons. Again no Ritchie. Johnstone covers wing but who covers full-back? Maybe SHC? This game has become a must win one.
Edinburgh: Dougie Fife; Jason Harries, James Johnstone, Chris Dean, Duhan van der Merwe; Jaco van der Walt, Sam Hidalgo-Clyne; Jordan Lay, Neil Cochrane, Murray McCallum, Fraser McKenzie (capt), Lewis Carmichael, Magnus Bradbury, John Hardie, Bill Mata.
Replacements: Cameron Fenton, Rory Sutherland, Elliot Millar-Mills, Cornell du Preez, Luke Crosbie, Nathan Fowles, Duncan Weir, Junior Rasolea.

Superb result.
I wonder what Edinburgh will be hoping for in the Scarlets Ulster match? I suppose it depends on whether the ambition is 2nd or 3rd...

A horrible draw but scarlets will win but hopefully without the bonus.

A very good and neccesary win. Something Edinburgh wouldn't have done last year.

Probably a 3-0 scarlets win.hugh_woatmeigh wrote:Superb result.

Finishing 3rd is far more important considering where this team has come from. It would give a full 5pt cushion.

Ulster have given up. Or have they?

Ignore them, Enbra. Keep on keeping on.

Re: 1872 Cup Runners Up
Starting to believe that Edinburgh will get to the final. I have the flu though and my mind is off wandering...
Still , just bought cheap return Ryanair tickets to Dublin ... So I'm ready.
