I see that Massimo Cuttitta has died of Covid complications, aged just 54. He had a great reputation as a players coach when he was with us.

Many errors but they worked their way through it. Some players worth being enthusiastic about in that team.

Is this from the Thistle pod tweet? Cockerill seemed alright last night, especially for a guy dealing with a "mutiny".Big D wrote:Rumours that the players and Cockerill have fallen out.

Couple of suggestions elsewhere revolving around senior guys calling a meeting and words were had.Chunks Baws wrote:Is this from the Thistle pod tweet? Wouldn't be surprised of they were and it was a storm in a tea cup.

Another South African signs up for Edinburgh. Immelman is a good player though, think that he strengthens the squad a lot. I wonder where he's going to play.

Good that he's signed a new contract. With his size but willingness to mix it with the big boys he'll always be a bit of a fan favourite. Need to actually give him the ball in a little space now.Cameo wrote:This is quite something - https://www.theoffsideline.com/new-cont ... 3eb2c69a18

I see Carmichael has confirmed his retirement. Feels like there was untapped potential there but probably for the best.

Feels like? I think we can reasonably say he was a massive loss to Scottish rugby from the point the persistent injuries started. Definitely had potential to make a far bigger impact than he did.
Absolutely agree it’s right to call it quits if he’s being advised on medical grounds.

Rumoured for a while but still really disappointing. It's not as if he's out of contract so either it's a cost cutting move to let him go, he wants to move or Worcester have thrown some extra cash at it.Big D wrote:Sutherland away.
For the player I would have thought he could do better than Worcester. For Scotland he's not a player we want run into the ground with his injury history. For Edinburgh that leaves us with schoeman and center and the youngsters, which will be interesting for cockerill.

There was a suggestion on the Edinburgh forum that this year was an option on the Surherland contract that the player didn't take up.switchskier wrote:Rumoured for a while but still really disappointing. Re: 1872 Cup Champions
Weird timing, just ahead of pre-season. Someone else now has to lead the team through a season with cockers squad.
I'm guessing that Mike Blair is next in line. I would worry that he's too close to sone of the current squad but there's actually relatively few left from his playing days. Whoever it is I hope that they come in and stamp their personality on it and give us a more developed identity.

Mixed feelings, he did a good job but I think the (or my perceived) lack of spark was starting to grind on the squad, wonder who go the cheque book out is he not still in contract? (Or was he booted).
Pity Scott Robertson resigned for Crusaders.....

TBH, I think this is an excellent result for Edinburgh. Cockerill's an excellent forwards coach and a decent enough head coach, but he's exceptionally stuck in his ways and doesn't adapt (or look to any youth development). You've had the advantage of him building you up and setting solid systems in place, without getting the subsequent slide and eventual firing when he keeps hammering away with the same stale approach that isn't working.AL. wrote:Yeah I just saw this:Big D wrote:Cockers gone.

This is the right time is a RC tenure for him to move on. Pick a team up from rock bottom instil some sort of culture then move on. It is a very specific skill set and some people can't do it, but for me that is what he is now.

I just hope that Edinburgh can take some of the (initial) positives, particularly in the pack, when they move forward with whomever takes over. It's a shame they could never seem to strike any sort of balance with their attacking game after seeming to develop quite a tough pack.

Yep, great news. Already felt like a year too long.
Given the timing, you would think it'll be an internal appointment and Mike Blair would be interesting. I wouod hope it's not Hodge again.

Given he's not involved with pre season they're s good chance he'll be gone.Cameo wrote:Yep, great news. Already felt like a year too long.

Seem 3 names suggested; Blair, Dalziel amd Walton who is currently leading the Gloucester academy. All have pros and cons.
