Apparently a popular vote for an economically moronic outcome will do it.

Sorry, you think this result went against the tide of media bias?Billyfish wrote:Blydi marvellous. Against a tide of misinformation, media bias and scaremongering. Welcome to the new world, let the fake panic begin.
This is the beginning of the end of the UK. Welcome to your future country of England and Wales.Sandydragon wrote:I didn't think it would happen, but there we go. The groundswell of public discontent was always there but I did wonder if people would take the plunge or not. The really interesting thing about all this is the political convergence. Brexit was popular in labour heartlands as well as Tory safe seats. No surprise that Scotland voted to remain, but Wales!
There are some very sour looking politicians on tv at the moment.
Absolutely this. There will be a mature discussion because there has to be.Sandydragon wrote:My hope is that politicians in the UK and Europe now act like adults and not spoils children. There is no need for this to be a disaster, unless they choose to make it so.
I'll pack my tin hat just in case...
It is on a par with Black Wednesday in economic impact terms, so that's about right in my view.Billyfish wrote:BBC reporting it like it's a nation disaster. Hilarious.

Well, someone made some good coin, although that coin is next to worthless now.jared_7 wrote:For reference, both Paddy Power and Betfair have live odds as 7/1 (8.00) for Brexit, 1/12 (1.08) fro Remain.
Heavily one sided.
I don't want the Scots to leave, but if that's what they really want, good luck to them.Zhivago wrote:This is the beginning of the end of the UK. Resigning. Don't think that's a good decision for immediate stability.Sandydragon wrote:I don't want the Scots to leave, but if that's what they really want, good luck to them.Zhivago wrote:This is the beginning of the end of the UK. Cameron now talking, this sounds like a resignation.
If the referendum results went against the Remain option, his days as PM were numbered, and welp. I guess the only real surprise is how quick it really was.Billyfish wrote:Resigning. Very true, but that didn't necessarily meant he had to announce this now. There is plainly going to be a lot of work to do, a leadership election is a distraction. Also, as that 2@ IDS said a while back in a moment of clarity, the divisive and hysterical nature of the Remain campaign will have consequences after the result for unity within the Conservative Party; they are at each other's throats just when they should be pulling together and that helps nobody.cashead wrote:If the referendum results went against the Remain option, his days as PM were numbered, and welp. I guess if there is at least one positive to take out of this, he's left the Tories a potential dumpster fire of a party.Billyfish wrote:Very true, but that didn't necessarily meant he had to announce this now. The dumpster fire will probably result in Michael Gove taking charge, and he'll make Cameron look like Bernie f*cking Sanders.cashead wrote:I guess if there is at least one positive to take out of this, he's left the Tories a potential dumpster fire of a party.Billyfish wrote:Very true, but that didn't necessarily meant he had to announce this now.
