RIP Shane Warne

Post by Banquo »

Worth its own thread- one of the greatest ever, far too young, and genuinely changed cricket. RIP Warney.

Just came here to post the same. Despite his performances against us, was one of my favorites.

And spawned the greatest cricket song.

708 Test wickets in 145 matches at an average of 25.41, second to Muralitharan. Fabulous stats!

One of the all-time great cricketers. The cricket world has lost two larger than life characters in Rod Marsh and Shane Warne.

Jolted the game forward with his talent and personality.Too young.
RIP Rod Marsh too - iconic, and top keeper in great team in my develop-mental years.
Sad news, both.

There's wankers who play against you that you hate. There's wankers who play against you that you have a sneaky admiration for. He was definitely in the last group. What a shame.

indeed - very much of the time.
We can spare him (or his writer) the poetic license of wrong ground..'twas Old Trafford, not Trent Bridge, in '93, and Gatt's career end; he toured Oz '95. McGrath bowled him first ball in Perth, 5th test.Think that was it for him. :)

BBC coverage of his memorial service was a disgrace; mostly about various off field misdemeanours. Pathetic.

Probably a lesson for you here p/d, shagging a super model will decrease your life expectancy. Dr. Hook warned you about this problem.
That said, I had a sports Master who was a mate of Beefy who taught me about spin bowling at skool. Big Fat Bill,....top bloke.
I'll tell you a story about Bill.
Bill had a GF, a Welsh girl who wasn't very experienced in life, and they'd been going out together for awhile but had never gone the distance.
So Bill, as a way of advancing their situation, bought some condoms and put them in the glove compartment of his car in the hope she'd find them and get the message. She found them, looked at them, and said:
"Escort, must be something to do with the car" and slammed the glove compartment shut.
