Is Cheesywosit Chessum? If not, then I'd add him to the list. The difference he's made to England since coming back fit has been immense.

I think Cummings is fantastic, and Scotland missed him massively, but after missing the 6 nations I can’t see how he gets enough of a platform to stake a claim ahead of Itoje, Chessum, McCarthy, Beirne, who would be my front runners.

Cummings could go if bernie is considered an auxiliary back row it'll be 4 genuine 2nd rows plus 1 versatile

Continually - he manages a knee problem all the time, but is now ruled out with a shoulder issue.

With the depth of back row talent available, I'm not sure how likely that is. Already trying to winnow down Curry, Curry, Earl, Doris, Conan, Van der Flier, Ritchie, Darge, Wainwright, Morgan, Faletau, and that's not even taking into account dark horses like Reffell, TWillis, JWillis, van der Flier, etc. Don't really need to be adding locks into that equation.

CCS worth an outside bet - better ball carrier than all of the above imo and real physical presence - would dovetail nicely with athleticism of Itoje ( not to mention ability to play 8 and 6 too ) as would Tadgh Beirne too to be fair.

Interesting you consider van der Flier a dark horse. He is in tremendous form and overall, probably the best out and out 7 available to Farrell. Would agree that backrow is the most competitive for Lions slots. If Farrell is to consider French based players, Jack Willis should travel. He's been tearing up trees. He wears a 7 shirt but in France that means nothing - plays like a 6.5.
From your list, I don't think Ben Curry, Darge, Wainwright or Faletau are likely.
Would not rule out Pollock as a bolter if the Lions are planning to play fast, loose attacking rugby..
