Maybe because not all council results were in yet..
.

Now, normally opposition parties do well in local elections. Yet even now, Labour have lost a swath of seats. Even if they hold all their remaining seats, its been a really bad night.

Also a very bad night for UKIP and the Lib Dems haven't performed as well as they would have liked.
If the UK really wants to be Tory, so be it. Luckily for me I'm mostly unaffected by the idiocy of such people.

All not in power. There are extremists in power in the UK. You wonder why UKIP vote declined so much? Because Tories just became them for all intents and purposes...

If you think the Conservatives are extremists you've lost all perspective.
The UKIP vote has declined because they achieved their sole aim.

I've lost perspective? Absurd.

This shows the political perspective of the various main political opinion that dominated the EU ref. Conservatives (A & F) are clearly extreme. That you cannot see their extremism is rather disconcerting.

I stopped reading when they described Corbyn as a 'left of centre social liberal'.
Rather than give me an referendum-centric opinion piece which thinks Corbyn is left of centre, give me some Conservative Party policy that is extremist. That they want to leave the EU after the referendum, the result of which stated that the country should leave the EU, doesn't count as an extremist policy.

Genuinely shocking that the Conservatives have picked up seats in some of the Wards they have in Scotland.

Interestingly, in areas that will translate into Alex Salmond and Angus Robertsons seats on June 6th has seen the Conservatives do well.

Absolutely pmsl at the results in Scotland. Who'd thunk the SNP would bring a tory surge with them? Feckin hilarious.

It was so much easier to blame Them. It was bleakly depressing to think They were Us. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

-Nuclear first strike policy
-Privatisation of health & education
-Selling arms to dictatorships committing war crimes
-Reneging on international obligations incl. Refusal to grandfather treaty rights.
-Expansion of mass surveillance state
-Censorship of Internet
-Destruction of state support for vulnerable

Um... There's Surely more

I bet there aren't many in Scottish Labour laughing. What are the odds on Kezia falling on her, um, sword, after the GE?

Um... There's Surely more
- The same as the perennially left of centre France (the real left of centre, not Political Compass' left of centre) and supported by the Labour Party. It's also NATO policy. It's not North Korean policy, though. Good to know that good old Kim isn't an extremist. So......not solely a Conservative policy.
- Not what I'd call extremist but hey-ho. Both started by the Labour Party.
- Not that I want to defend it but this would make most industrialised nations governed by extremists. So........not solely a Conservative policy.
- I'd like some examples but before you do I'll counter it with the International Development Act, commitment to the NATO 2% spending etc
- That mass surveillance keeps us, and citizens of other countries, safe. It's hardly Orwellian in its nature. Be careful though you might have a knock on your door tonight after they've read this. Also, state surveillance is nothing compared to the surveillance undertaken by Google, Apple, Facebook etc but you don't want to stop that.....
- Don't make me laugh. It's impossible to censor the Internet - unless you're China and just ban non-governmental sites. They are merely asking providers to monitor their content. Can't see why anyone would be against that. Not solely a Conservative policy.
- You can always tell when people get desperate as they start using hyperbole. Pensioners would disagree with you here, as would the record number of employed people. The attempted cut to the DLA was wrong but the party as a whole stopped it from happening. Also, the vast majority of the cuts were under the coalition govt so we'll have to label the Lib Dems as extremists as well. I suppose that fits in with Farron's thoughts on homosexuality. Speaking of which, which party legalised gay marriage? Also, the socialist governments of both France and Spain have cut their welfare budgets.......the extremists.

Clueless. France is not left wing. In case you haven't been following their politics, no one from the left advanced to the second round. Hollande is also not left wing.

She might, Labour need a root and branch reboot. Don't know if she will tho, it would bring deck chairs and the titanic to mind.

I actually think in about 10 years she'll be a very very good politician, she's just taken on a poison chalice at a time when the main left wing party in the uk is trying its hardest to implode as spectacularly as possible.

France isn't left of centre. Haha, good one.

I have being following the French elections, but unless Le Pen and/or Macron set policy over the last 35/40 years or so I'm not sure they can be blamed for France's nuclear deterrent policy or the welfare cuts in the last parliament (by the socialist party).

You should see my pussbook. Very entertaining although somewhat sad at the same time that people would rather deride that people have voted Tory and not why they have

See this is the problem right there. Because the brexit vote process was so short on facts and detail we have no idea how voters feel about staying in the Eu customs area, or whether we want to keep the Eu court of justice, that sort of thing.

Because the debate only got as far as Poles out and think of all the money the NHS will have I don't see how you can suggest that the Tories are not responsible for the decisions that seem to be suggesting a hard brexit is looking likely.

Because you need a hard Brexit to control immigration and to not be sending a large chunk of money to Brussels every year. It's impossible to have a soft Brexit and achieve those two aims you've identified as key.
Though, my point really was that you can't be labelled an extremist solely for wanting out of the EU.

It'd also be hard to label as extreme when it's such a widespread view. One could of course label these unfortunate gits as blithering idiots, though some mayn't be idiots, they might just be racist scum.
