I'm not actually discussing the politics of it, just saying the NZ-media's customary attention-seeking and braggart attempts to gain the moral high ground are somewhat cringeworthy given 60 or so countries have produced female leaders and even Islamic Turkey beat NZ to the punch.

Seriously, don't you people have anything more to do than defecate, urinate and wait for any chance to make a bitchy response to something I've written? It was nothing more than a harmless caricature of several traveller couples I happen to know personally. In fact, I admire vegetarians and am pretty much down to white meat myself (chicken & fish) these days - a decision based as much on as ethics as health, but I think the vegans (I've met personally) do seem a little too obsessed with their own purity and regard themselves as morally superior. That's not the right reason to confine oneself to legumes and grains...

Anyway, I personally see a big difference between eating other mammals and eating birds and fish. So I don't think we can say that's hypocrisy. But in a perfect world, yes, we wouldn't eat any other animals at all, and if I were Mr Perfect (as you presumably are) I'd be a proper vegetarian.

Trivia of the day: Beer and wine are not vegetarian as they are strained through fish fat. Sorry if that ruined anyone's day...
