Aye, it’s frustrating as fuck to watch a team that doesn’t want to play with a proper back row.

England could do with giving up on the Ford Farrell thing. Farrell makes Ford relevant, I honestly don’t think England play Ford there if Farrell wasn’t there. Maybe that’s too simplistic.

Does anyone else feel like we have missed, in hindsight what could have been an achievable chance of 4 wins this year given what we know about England?

At the start of the championship. If we knew how average England would look would we think 4 wins were achievable? It feels like we've missed a decent opportunity this year.

Maybe it is. But I think we'll look back on this year with a poor England and France as the time we should have been winning more than 3 games given the team we have.

Absolutely agree ireland have put everyone else in the shade this year. England at home obv a very different proposition, but they have been poor in this competition - even at home - and its hard to see how they are going to stop ireland from going thru the phases.

I I actually think that England are a bad match up for Ireland. England have struggled when teams have put width on the ball and stretched the game. Ireland's style of play will put less pressure on their backrow which is still very powerful.

I think England will win at HQ.

From my somewhat sketchy memory, we played fairly well first half but butchered at least one opportunity and gave them 2 tries. Second half we didn’t turn up.

Anyway, I am currently wandering aimlessly round Grafton Street area trying to keep off the booze before my flight home. Tried on a pair of jeans I am never going to buy.

Fuck it. I’ll go for a pint.

Edit - How do people that don’t drink fill a day such as this?

I hate doing this but I can’t stop wondering what happens if Jones’s pass to Hogg goes to hand. It’s harsh on him as he has made so much out of nothing, but once we showed ourselves repeatedly incapable of finishing off a chance it seemed to give Ireland a real lift.

And what the fuck do we do about McInally and Horne. Great in most areas except 2 very, very key ones.

Why are you suggesting McInally is the problem with the L/O? Toony and his team should have realised it was a problem area after England and addressed it before hand. Moreso given that every man and and his dog knew what Ireland would do yesterday. Just like they have all 6N.

The most frustrating thing about the loss is that Ireland's game plan is so blatantly obvious and IMO basic yet Toony and his team did not go to Dublin with a plan or the appropriate preparation to beat it.

Yeah fair enough. It looked like the lineout was generally a mess, not just McInally, but it did feel like he biffed a couple of the crucial ones.

Same applies to Horne really, several players threw awful passes but a couple of his, and last week, really stood out.

It was a clumsy way of making my point, fittingly enough.
