There's always a bloody snag, isn't there?

Sourdust wrote: Sun Aug 13, 2023 5:42 pm Both teams looked completely unready for a RWC. That almost goes without saying.

BUT: Wales won the "rubber" 37-28 (4 tries to 1) despite never fielding anything remotely resembling a test side. We know a lot more about lots of our fringe players, we didn't sustain any definitive injuries, and we showed a strike rate from quality possession the like of which would be terrifying, if only we could secure quality possession more than twice per game...

We're better off now than we were a fortnight ago. I don't think that's true of the other lot, at all.
We’ve moved on from the six nations. There’s loads to work on but we actually look like we might actually have a rugby team to put out against Fiji

Consolation is that it wasn't our best team.
We compounded some errors at a critical point in the match, we had England in their own 22 and Lydiate gave a penalty for coming up off the line too quickly, we also had a penalty to get us into a good field position and Biggar missed touch, these were two big moments in the match where we should have been more composed, especially from two senior players.

A few of our senior players need to show some readership or else move aside.

Nope, apparently it wasn't a red at all. I'm sure a completely above board decision not at all influenced by England's need to have Farrell available for the world cup. Farrell isn't at all the reckless, thuggish tackler he appears to the untrained eye.

Great to see world rugby sending such a clear message regarding the importance of head injuries.

Comical decision from the panel. Always has his arm tucked regardless of interference.
Does not send the right message at all
However, it does mean England will start with him .. so LOL

I bet whoever the bunker ref was is well impressed with that outcome.

Farcical.

Yep and the most likely outcome is more bunker decisions being bottled. The clear implication is that if there's any way to let someone off, he will be let off (if he's from a union with expensive lawyers).

It sure was. Which means it is either a dereliction of their duties, or a genius ploy to keep Farrell in the starting 10
