Davies!!!! 15 secs left. Let's give it to Ireland with loads of space.

A win is a win, is a win. But what if we had been playing 15 men? Could have been annihilated. Our confidence will rise after this but our intensity needs to go up fourfold against a resurgent Scotland.

Stupidest decision by a scrum half since Travis Knoyle in Australia. All we had to do was keep the ball for 30 seconds maxBuggaluggs wrote:Davies!!!! 15 secs left. Let's give it to Ireland with loads of space.

So we have Scotland next weekend and we really need to work on the lineout and hope our injured players aren’t too bad.

We looked utterly bereft of ideas or even basic skills when we had the ball. Defensively, we looked pretty good. How many times did we lose the ball after taking into contact?

I do think the red card needs to be changed. I think it should mean 10 mins in the bin then forced substitution. An early red card just makes too much of an impact.

Indeed. Wales' best delayed pass came from him too. (Only, actually).Spiffy wrote:Ye jammy boogers!

I disagree. If you want to make rugby less dangerous then foul play must be properly punished.Buggaluggs wrote:I do think the red card needs to be changed. I think it should mean 10 mins in the bin then forced substitution. An early red card just makes too much of an impact.

Yes, punishment must be severe. Ireland lost this match because of O'Mahony's stupidity (let's face it, they'd have handled us easily with 15) and quite right too. Sometimes you can sympathize with a player, but POM has form for this kind of thuggery and to be quite honest I laughed him off the pitch.Sandydragon wrote:I disagree. After that, Ireland were excellent and in the end, unlucky. Wales' defence was massively improved. In terms of attack, there's not a lot wrong with our finishing; I don't think we missed any really good scoring chances? The problem is how few we created, playing 70 minutes against 14 men.
Barnes' ruck interpretations were a bit "unfashionable", heavily favouring the team in possession, but he applied them evenly and Wales were too slow to adapt.
Scotland should feel confident next week. The good news for Wales is that defeat at Murrayfield would now not quite be the catastrophe it could have been. A Wyn is a Wyn.

Our defence was much better. Our attack was somewhat uninspiring and we rely too much on broken field play.
North at 13 worked.
Our scrum was alright.
Our lineout was beyond poor.
It still feels like we have gone backwards.

O’Mahony got a red card for a similar offence a few months ago, v Scarlets.

He has form for this. And he almost got away with it today as Barnes wasn’t interested at first until the TMO brought it up.Wallpaperman wrote:O’Mahony got a red card for a similar offence a few months ago, v Scarlets.

Also was North gauged in the eyes in one tackle. It wasn’t looked at but George certainly had scratch marks under both eyes.Sandydragon wrote:He has form for this. It was shrugged off by the commentators as one of those things, but those scratches under the eyes look more deliberate than accidental.normanski wrote:Also was North gauged in the eyes in one tackle. The ESPN stats for this game are horrific. 36% possession and 32% territory. We apparently only lost four lineout out of 15 but it was a lottery all afternoon.
We also conceded 13 turnovers to Ireland’s 17, but since Ireland had so much more ball that’s not brilliant.
We need a massive step up for next weekend

Hey guys, well done on the win but the best description of the welsh team is a living interpretation of a a Rube Goldberg machine
Loads of subtle movements , lots of running around but achieve very little.
Generally a team in transition, kinda feel that either the old guard go or Pivac goes,

I don’t disagree on your last sentence. I wonder if a few will call it time after the Lions tour.whatisthejava wrote:Hey guys, well done on the win but the best description of the welsh team is a living interpretation of a a Rube Goldberg machine

I hope so, i don't think Pivac styl will go anywhere but after the lions some more coaches will be available and with the old guard gone a coach can build without the headache of - But under Gatland blh blah blahSandydragon wrote:I don’t disagree on your last sentence. I was literally shouting at the screen when the scrum started, whatever you do don't fucking kick the fucking ball away.Sandydragon wrote:Stupidest decision by a scrum half since Travis Knoyle in Australia. For me though, the classic is Gareth Cooper losing a match to Australia (in Australia) in 2008 by doing exactly what Davies did. Lucky for Davies, Burns kicked it dead.

That is quite a serious accusation. Who do you claim was the Irish gouger?Sandydragon wrote:It was shrugged off by the commentators as one of those things, but those scratches under the eyes look more deliberate than accidental.normanski wrote:Also was North gauged in the eyes in one tackle.
