But for some very dodgy reffing in Monaco, this guy might still have been coach of Samoa's 7s: :(

The Supreme Court has referred the lawsuit by Manu Samoa Sevens former coach, Damian McGrath, to mediation.

The decision was made by Justice Vui Clarence Nelson earlier this week.

McGrath, who is now coaching Canada, is seeking $1million from the Samoa Rugby Union.

The lawsuit targets the S.R.U. over the removal of McGrath from his position as the head coach of Manu Samoa 7s earlier this year.

McGrath is taking legal action for alleged defamation of character and wrongful dismissal over his position.

McGrath was appointed as head coach for Manu Samoa 7’s in August 2015.

Seems a bit dodgy. Presumably Sir Gordon will be there himself . . :

This is according to the Chief Executive Officer of the Samoa Rugby Union, Faleomavaega Vincent Fepulea’i, who yesterday clarified the changes to the team’s management ahead of the Hong Kong Sevens this weekend.

“Paul Tietjens was seconded as interim Trainer to replace our Trainer Hugh Sloppe who has returned to Australia,” Faleomavaega said.

“Regrettably, finding a replacement at this late stage of the Series will be quite costly to the Union with only four tournaments left.”

The C.E.O. said “Paul is a very experienced Trainer and can do the job for us in the interim while the Union re-advertised the position moving forward.”

Faleomavaega also explained why Assistant Coach Steven Betham is not travelling with the team, as in previous tournaments.

“He has been assigned a crucial role of working with the extended non-travelling players of the squad to work on areas of their game as outlined in their one on ones with the Head Coach,” Faleomavaega said.

“Stephen will manage all the players training to ensure we build on increasing a wider pool of players to international level.”

Lastly, he clarified Junior Hari Narayan’s dual role as Manager and Video Analyst.

“Ramsey Tomokino has moved back to his full time role as Manager Logistics,” he said.

“He coordinates all logistics and planning of all the Teams and provide support to Team Managers.”
