Some guys find it difficult to keep the weight on when pro athletes. I have read stories about American footballers (not even just the linemen) needing to loads just to keep the weight on in season.

Telegraph saying Laidlaw is a major doubt for the rest of the tournament. Also speculating Henry might be called up to bring some experience to the side.

Yeah can actually see him being brought straight in as captain, regardless of how he is playing.

As can I. I know he's been in poor form of late, but just having a wee bit of experience around the squad can't hurt. And I dare say adrenaline will help if he does get on.

I won't go as far as thinking it's the right call but I can see Cotter doing it. I'm more inclined to think the best players should start and if we're in the game at the end some experienced heads would be a nice option.

No point trying to replace laidlaw as pyrgos had got game management but I think we would be disjointed , let price start, speed is up and if it's close with 20 left. Ring on pyrgos, but remember against Japan pyrgos was replaced because he lacked the game management that laidlaw had.

I say we have to stick with Price as he brings the zip, and he has to learn the ropes at some point anyway. We are going to be really short of experience but the team is on a learning curve.

Minus Laidlaw also means we have to rely on Finn's place kicking, which is something I sometimes fret about.

With Laidlaw out who's our top three 9's? Price, Pyrgos and? Kennedy is starting for Edinburgh, SHC has been in the squad before and beyond that it's a real flyer on someone.

Price at 9 could be the catalyst Scotland need. He made the french sh!t their pantaloons in a way Laidlaw could never achieve. They were constantly watching him.

I do worry about the place kicking though.

Hopefully Laidlaw isn't out for too long.

I was pretty scared about Russell kicking to be honest but he nailed the first two didn't he? The miss seems like a bit of an anomaly.

Equally Russell seems the kind of guy where anomalies become that bit more frequent.

Surely Hogg would just take all the place kicks, not just the long ones. Or am I missing something?

Russell has been kicking fairly well for a while has he not? I would guess he has an 80-85% success rate and Laidlaw would be 85-90%?

Im hoping not but i reckon you guys are going to see why Laidlaw is worth the money Clermont is willing to pay him.

When it works for Price its great but I think if the game is tight (which it will be) i think Price could end up costing us some good possession by taking a tap on our 5m line and getting smashed by George North

Scrum halves on my team who like to tap and go are a great source of ire. There we honest forwards are, expecting a wee breather for our hard work in earning the penalty, and then this wee fvcker expects us to go hareing after him.

Well bollocks to that. I hope George North does smash him if he tries any of that nonsense.

He might cost us games, we might lose games by 10 with him that we'd lose by 3 with Laidlaw but he might also win us games Laidlaw couldn't.

Because he's not as good as Russell.

Price isn't a moron despite his mistake on Sun. I've never seen him take a bad tap and go.

People have been screaming for Laidlaw to be replaced, well now its happened we can see if it helps or hinders. It will finally put the argument to rest.

We are going see what happens without him flapping around at the base of a ruck but have a 9 who plays week in week out with 90% of the backs and likes a very quick tempo.

Finn's kicking has been fairly solid recently. When Hogg played 10 in Italy his kicking was solid also.

What we need is someone to step up and be a leader on the field. I don't think its JG just yet but should be a forward.

Wales at MF isn't the worst place for the first game without him. Twickers would be a horrible first game out.
