Haha - given how much I'be championed Sam Simmonds, there was no way I couldn't pick him.Stom wrote:About as good a start my fantasy rugby season could have had
I had Steenson too but I swapped him for someone I think will do well for me.

No try for me. Took too long to place it.

Got Simmonds as my starting 8, definitely an acceptable pick! Armand on the bench isn't bad. Woodward at 15 isn't going as well as I'd like, but I partially picked him as a potential kicking option (and his huge versatility).

Would've loved to have been in the shed when Woodward went over.
Great game to start the season.

Quite enjoyed that as a neutral. Good for Glos
Simmonds looks like a potentially good player but still needs a lot of work. He's not an 8 at international level I don't think

Exeter may come to regret not signing a high class second row to replace Parling, although Lees and Dennis to come back. Exeter massively missed their big boys in the pack, they can't get LCD, Lees, Dennis, Ewers, Waldrom back soon enough.

Lost a few forwards in the tight carries I believe. But if you just give that role to someone else, he looked very effective elsewhere.TheNomad wrote:Quite enjoyed that as a neutral. Good for Glos

Barely even an 8 at club level I'd say. Does loads of good things still cos he's a good player, but not an 8 imo.TheNomad wrote:Quite enjoyed that as a neutral. Good for Glos

Get the feck in.
That'll do.
Pleased with the tenacity and commitment at least. Defence was exceptional for large parts, a couple of lapses aside. Nip and tuck all the way and for once glos come out on the right side of the score line. Hoping that does the squad a power of good.
Oh and Heinz is just pants.

I know little about White. He looked a solid defender but otherwise a journeyman 9 whose presence holds back Maunder. Odd.

I thought Thorley and Purdy looked a handful, and both centres. All big, hard-running blokes.

At no stage did I watch that and think Glos were the better team. That Thrush try was ridiculous
Glos have a few decent players but their back play is clunky to say the least. There's a lot of work for Akkerman to do. Nowt new then. Simmonds does look v promising but I just can't see him as an int'l 8.

Cracking game . I n fairness to Baxter he could have ranted about the two Glaws tries but he seemed more critical of his teams defence .
Early days but Glaws do need a solid No . 9 .

Enjoyable game that. Both teams rusty, but some sparks in amongst it. Thought Kvesic showed up very well. Simmonds obviously did well. Even when stopped he managed to stay on his feet and get in better positions for the ruck. Maunder showed some good touches when he came on. Exeter hadn't got their patterns working too well, but equally credit to a very dogged and effective first up Glous defence. Much better from Glous in that respect. Was good to see them really test Exeters patience.
Glous did well as units. Nothing spectacular, but collectively worked well together and got over the line. Too many mistakes along the way, but hey first game of the season. Thrush and Slater should be a very good second row. Must say I was most disappointed by Morgan, who was largely anonymous. Did like the work of both Thorley and Purdy, both had really decent games. Oh and Billy Burns! For a guy who weighs about the same as one of my arms he doesn't half take contact well. Delighted to see Fraser Balmain starting. He'll do well with consistent starts.
Really fun start! Apart from my 9 year old has both Thrush and Simmonds in his fantasy team the little bastard!!

I remember certain knowledgeable fans saying that Mike Teague was too small for International rugby .
