Warburton's comment about the improved speed to the breakdown emphasises what has been missing, IMO.

Good by Beirne, Pollock doing nice bits and pieces, the stuff that apparently doesn’t do. Their backrow may not be quick to the breakdown but making heavy dents in the carry.

This midfield has already been effective against Australia. Scotland played these centres against Australia last November. We comfortably beat them 27-13 (27-6 after 75 minutes).

Could the ARU have put less Black on that jersey? Need more Kiwis on the field and one fewer in the coach’s box.
Tane Edmed is gash, innit?

He always goes very low in the tackle, and in front on tackles can get his head all wrong, and did in this case. Nasty knee to head/neck, ko and stretchered off, hope he’s ok, but tour done. Cue Jamie George I’d hope.

Ok, note I support their selection anyway, but this oppo aren’t a good benchmark and it’s easy for Jones and Co, I’d expect Oz to be betterBaldiePete wrote: ↑Sat Jul 12, 2025 11:51 amThis midfield has already been effective against Australia. Oh, that. Shame for him. Hope he's ok.
I still think George is a better player anyway.

They are playing completely differently- previous games they’ve been trying to resource with only a couple of players, now putting loads more in and much more phase play. Whether it’s a change to plan or it was all rope a dope before I dinnae know.

LCD has looked very good on this tour, would have been on the bench for sure.Stom wrote: ↑Sat Jul 12, 2025 11:54 amOh, that. Shame for him. Hope he's ok.

Defence is much better, but attack not complicated.
Here comes Faz at centre ffs outside Marcus. Serious shoe horn by shifting tuitulopu to 13.

Jones off and BBC reporting that Ringrose is a major doubt for the 1st test...
It was so much easier to blame Them. It was bleakly depressing to think They were Us. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

6 Pollock. 7 Morgan 8 Earl - think that’s our first test back row. All deserve it.
I wasn’t biggest fan of Earl at 8 but there’s something about this trio being greater than the some of their individual parts.
Chessum, Conan, Curry and VdF haven’t quite done that.

Is this someone posting under your name?
Never thought you go for a lightweight backrow comprised entirely of what you would call 7’s/ opensides.

Re: Lions v AUNZ
Has there ever been a Lions match when all the tries were scored by Scottish players? Weird, but very much appreciated in this corner of Scotland!
