Not unexpected, but will have done them good against players with a few more years development in professional rugby. Some nice moments in there, like Patrick Hogg's draw and pass and then Winters showing a glimpse of what he's about beating two and offloading for the score.

Just seen that former England U18 fly half / centre, Felix Champain has been named in the Scotland U20 squad.

That's the name is beyond parody. Like a fast show character. :)

Ollie Davies red card in the PRC, could hamper his under 20s chances.

Judging by the social media stuff it looks like Friday and Caluori are in with the squad.

I hope an early squad announcement is incoming from them as well. Very interested to see what we go with this year with so many bright talents to choose from.

The match is live on S4C, maybe the subtitles will work.

The under 20s games are normally on the beeb website/iPlayer.

England U20 Men’s side to face Wales (includes current club, community club and previous U20 caps)

15 James Pater (Northampton Saints, Shelford RFC, uncapped)

14 Noah Caluori (Saracens, Blackheath Rugby, 4 caps)

13 Nick Lilley (Exeter Chiefs, Ivybridge RFC, 8 caps)

12 Will Knight (Gloucester Rugby, Longlevens RFC, 4 caps)

11 George Pearson (Leicester Tigers, Buckingham RFC, 3 caps)

10 Luke Davidson (Saracens, Michaelhouse, uncapped)

9 Lucas Friday (Harlequins, Bromley RFC, 8 caps)

1 Oliver Scola (Northampton Saints, Old Northamptonians RFC, 9 caps)

2 Jimmy Staples (Harlequins, Worthing Rugby Club, uncapped)

3 Ollie Streeter (Harlequins, Haywards Heath RFC, 2 caps)

4 Elliot Williams (Harlequins, uncapped)

5 Patrick Hogg (Sale Sharks, Blaydon Rugby Club, uncapped)

6 Aiden Ainsworth-Cave (Northampton Saints, Bedford Junior Blues, 9 caps)

7 George Marsh (Leicester Tigers, Holt RFC, uncapped)

8 Connor Treacey (C) (Bath Rugby, New Milton Rugby Club, 7 caps)

Replacements

16 Kealan Freeman-Price (Gloucester Rugby, Drybrook RFC, uncapped)

17 Oliver Spencer (Sale Sharks, Harrogate RUFC, uncapped)

18 Sonny Tonga’uiha (Northampton Saints, Old Northamptonians RFC, uncapped)

19 Freddie Ogden-Metherell (Gloucester Rugby, Lydney RFC, uncapped)

20 Seb Kelly (Sale Sharks, Rochdale RUFC, 2 caps)

21 Asa Stewart-Harris (Saracens, Old Albanians, uncapped)

22 Sam Winters (Bath Rugby, Henley Hawks, uncapped)

23 Victor Worsnip (Bristol Bears, Bank of England RFC, uncapped)

Looks like a decent team to me, although, where's Linegar? Not sure why Marsh is at 7 either, surely that's a mistake.

That's a bloody good side!

Marsh has played 7 a fair bit. I'd personally swap Treacey and Marsh, but they're both super versatile

And yes, Linegar is the confusing one, unless he's got a knock / Bath have asked for him to stay with club.

I was wondering if Bath have requested him for PRC, absent Russell, Carreras, Donoghue, SHarris, Ojomoh and Redpath

But we've still got DeGlanville, and have borrowed Roue from Bath Uni (still surprised he's not officially in the academy).

I'd rather see Linegar for the U20s, personally

Thats a high quality backline. Davidson a bit of an unknown quantity but otherwise loads of pace, skill and a fair bit of experience.

Looking forward to this. Its on the BBC iplayer.

He's the least flamboyant of the tens, a bit more of a steady Eddie, which is a trifle harsh. Decent enough. Still better than last years dross.

I thought under 20s took priority over the PRC but not the Prem. Davidson was the 10 they went with Vs Bath Uni so maybe he's the one they rate.

There's a lot of Prem clubs looking threadbare for this weekend with the various A sides, under 20s and full internationals plus any other injuries. I think Tigers are down about 30 players all in.

U20's trump PRC now with the new agreement I believe. Otherwise none of the main U20's would be in the squad

When it was a longer season, the Premiership trumped U20's, but with the Prem cup it's who they want.

Maybe Linegar isn't as favoured by the RFU as he is on here.

It does, and I'm not entirely sure that Prem takes priority over U20
But that doesn't mean that a club can't make a request, which may or may not be granted. Note that I said "I was wondering if Bath have requested him for PRC" not "I wonder if Bath pulled rank"

There's also the possibility that he's picked up a knock, that Mapletoft doesn't rate him as highly as I do (or rate Davidson more highly), that he's decided that this is the match rotate and make sure everyone gets a game, and has 10 cover elsewhere, or even that there's an internal disciplinary reason.

Just spotted, all matches should be live on iPlayer (nice theory) and the following should be on the red button:

R1: Eng v Wal
R4: Ita v Eng; Ire v Wal
R5: Wal v Ita; Ire v Sco; Fra v Eng

All true but Mapletoft is now with England A and I think it's Titterall and Sorrell heading up England under 20s.

It could be that if they are going to get given game time at club level the coaches are seeing that as advantageous with option to bring them in later in the tournament. With a condensed tournament there's less rest time so more rotation is an option.

Not that it's strong evidence of anything, but Linegar named on the bench for Bath in the PRC

Losing Streeter inside the first few minutes is a blow. Going to be a long stint from Tonga’uiha now.

Wales forwards look well up for this and the Welsh 10 is running the show currently. England lacking possession.
