I'd guess that it's to encourage you to have another go.
Miss, and have another go, would probably cost what? 15-20 seconds; give up and bugger off, and it's 40.

Great to see Fiji get the gold.

Thought Clive was going to burst into tears before half time there.

Here, whilst you pricks are knocking about, and watching the olymics... That canoeing lark, seems fucking harsh that the penas for missing a gate is 40 seconds. A clean run takes about 90 seconds and there are about 30 of those gates.
The sport must be filled of cheating cunts that just try to sprint straight down.
Haha fair point... Not sure why I didn't see that, I cheat like fuck in nearly every sport I play.

Still, there must be a better balance to it than that. 4 years of work... miss one by a tiny fraction, and you might as well just pack up your canoe and fuck off.
Yeah surely a 10 or 15 sec penas is enough of a deterrent.

Britain exceeded my expectations, each of the players have a hard earned olympic medal that no one can take away from them.
Fitting also that Scotland (carrying some passengers) should be their opponents in the final. The originators of 7s against its perfectors.
I refuse to have a battle of wits with an unarmed person.

NS. Gone but not forgotten.
