Enjoyed that game. Congrats Embra.
Weeg still getting outmuscled - doesn’t bode well for play-offs. Too many of the key guys not hitting their straps. Hogg for example has had a strangely subdued season.

Didn’t get to see it. Performances of note?
How did the Edinburgh centres go against the more established Glasgow pair?
On Hogg, he seemed to come firing back briefly after the autumn but then really faded. Not bad necessarily but not much of anything? Him following the trend of Glasgow’s season or the other way around?
How did Fagerson go? Really interested how he does against tougher forward packs.

I hadn't realised that Edinburgh were only 2 points off the top spot in their pool...
What an absolutely amazing turnaround but I can't help but wonder about those bonus points...

That was good fun. Glasgow look more likely to score from distance but Edinburgh have something about them. Good to have them both in the playoffs and glasgow have at least some of their spark back

Re: 1872 Cup Runners Up
Few thoughts:
A side with the embra forward pack and the weeg backs would be very good.
Edinburgh probably should have won by more.
Rambo showed he is Scotland's best hooker.
Swinson was 5th best second row in the match.
No one can convince Harley deserves to be in a Scotland squad ahead of... well any SQ back row really. He is involved in rucks but rarely impacts them. Edinburghs back row were very effective.
Carmichael for a young lad is excellent in maul defence. He's closer to Cummings than many would think IMO.
Horne, Russell and Grigg were good.
SHC was good in the main.
Fowles, Harries and Fife were shite.
Young VDM is fun to watch. Raw as hell but fun.

Re: 1872 Cup Runners Up
Time zones meant that I didn't get to see the game but there are some beautiful tries on that highlights passage. Both teams looked to be playing with confidence which seems to be the huge difference.
Looking at the table, I had t realised that both teams had the same number of wins. Glasgow got 14 bonus points to Edinburghs 8 though, plus the draw means a fairly big points difference in the end. Attacking rugby paid off which is what bonus points are meant to do I guess.

Good result, Edinburgh (are you known as "Edinbourgeois", by chance?).
Tough match at Thomond to come, but nevertheless, I may put a fiver on you!

Re: 1872 Cup Runners Up
I think weeg have been undone by the utter utter shiteness of their conference, got Munster early and Leinster at home and pumped them and then really didn’t face a decent team until Edinburgh and then again scraped past games until the last few months when they look half cooked.
Think Munster fared better as they had the cc to prop them up but next season they need to try and even the pods a bit

Re: 1872 Cup Champions
So I wrote a bunch of shit about the Edinburgh backrow and lost it as the signal dropped out on the tube, as I just love doing. Basically it looks very promising. Hope Barclay can manage his game-time sensibly over the next couple of years. Will he play 8 do we think? 6. Bradbury/Crosbie 7. Watson/Ritchie 8. Barclay/Mata isn't a bad crop. Ritchie looked great on the highlights.
Charlie Horse is definitely off, right? And is Carmichael more of a 6 or lock?

Mata is absolutely nailed in that back row. What a f*cking find.

Tremendous to think that no team in the pro 14 has won more games than Edinburgh. In the hardest pool, playing the best team in the other pool 3 times, playing th3 cheetahs away, that is some achievement.

Carmichael is a second row who can play 6.
The Edinburgh back row looks promising. Ally Miller will be pushing for a go next year too. There seems an edge to them that the I'd Glasgow equivalents lack at times.

Yup. Resources at both teams are quite strangely spread about.

SHC apparently only offered a deal up to December ao.is off to the scarlets. Suggests a 9 from the SH is on his way.

Is Premier Sport available through Virgin? Might consider a subscription, but not if they're only going to show the Irish matches.OptimisticJock wrote:Every pro14 game live for 3 years with premier sport with one game a week free on freesport
