In what way hasn't he recovered? He started Edinburghs last 6 or 7 games looking like he could finally be developing into a quality 6 who does the hard stuff as well as the fancy stuff.

I fear it would be a step back for him and Scotland as he is likely to develop quicker and better under Cockerill than he is at Glasgow.

Given Barclay is crocked and likely to be heavily managed and away with Scotland I wouldn't be in a hurry to lose back rowers.

I dont think he has regained Cockerills trust , didnt really make myself clear and i get the opinion that Cockerill gives people 1 chance and Bradbury blew it.

Sometimes you piss off your coach and its time to move along
I think he may well move on as part of the culture change. Also gives him a wee bit of a fresh start.

Cockerill made him captain before he had ever really cemented himself as first choice. There must have been something about him that he liked.

Decent interview with Bennett here. Really big season for him if he is ever going to be what we hoped

Honest of him. Hope he squares himself away, maybe the competition with Jones will be good for him.

I just hope we get a good run of games with 12. Scott 13. Bennett so we can see what each of them can do (although JJ also deserves plenty of gametime)

Good signing for Edinburgh. Weeg fans will be raging given the silence on their front and the Pyrgos announcement.

One-upmanship? Can't help feeling Cockerill needed to prioritise more getting a top quality 9,while Rennie should be looking at his pack first and foremost

Pyrgos is only Edinburgh taking over his contract. So a 1 year deal which I'm ok with. That means all 9s bar maybe Shiel are our of contract and playing for a new deal.

Frisbee isn't a top quality 9 imo (although decent) and hopefully Edinburgh will bring in quality next year with Shiel stepping up too. It's a post RWC season in 2019 so there may be more people available.

You're probably right, but I feel bit glass-half-empty at the thought of Pyrgos being first choice and Fowles on the bench; I'd have liked to have seen an X-factor signing, like the New Zealander who played against the Lions (can't remember his name). Pyrgos is capable, bosses, and makes good decisions; Fowles is okay, will do the job...

... still can't work myself up to glass-half-full mode, and haven't seen enough of Shiel to pin hopes there

Wonder if they’re looking at Finlay Christie for after super rugby finishes?

I'm usually a glass half empty type. In this case I'm not even a glass half full type. That glass has 50% of water in it for me. But there have been strides made elsewhere and Pyrgos solid enough in the short term. He's not a long term answer but in a WC year it's harder to tempt players away. Wasps would have had to smash bank for Sopoaga.

Do you mean the RWC? It would be the sensible move if he doesn't make the cut...

Yeah, maybe. It is a 2-year deal, so was probably signed with that in mind.

When’s the New Jersey launched?

It's a shame all the Edinburgh games are a Friday night. The odd Saturday/Sunday tea time game would be handy for taking my wee boy (4) to his 1st game but 7.30 KOs mean that's unlikely as it would be 10pm before we got home at best.

It's not uncommon. Cross, Cairns, Roddy G have all done it.

Well. Fair enough. I struggled to be arsed to train once a week, let alone go through what these guys do and then go coach somebody else.

He just seems very young. I was worried it meant he didn’t think he would get back to his previous level. It feels like a while ago he was really tearing it up for Glasgow and Scotland.
