Netanyahu apparently wanted to go for direct regime change, but the Americans instructed him not to. Perhaps they were thinking of going ahead anyway, but I doubt the Iranian leadership is staying still long enough to be targeted via air strike.
Trump has a habit of talking bollocks and since he is increasingly losing whatever marbles he had in the first place, he may be confused.
Looking at the latest news it’s quite possible that the US will launch a strike of their own.
Its tricky to tell, but the Don looks increasingly, properly demented.
God help us all, Trump's being emboldened by Netanyahu. He likes the idea of bombing a country that can't hit back. Maybe he also wants to 'set an example' by devastating a place than no one (who matters) cares about. Greenland next?
A rules-based world order was a nice idea.
Interestingly, it looked old like some of the MAGA crowd aren’t happy. Not because of international law or anything like that, just that they don’t want to get involved in foreign wars.
This might peel support away from Trump. It’s a fair while until the mid term elections, so Trump might not consider that a problem at this time, but equally he might decide it’s not worth the effort.

Trumps sole lodestone is being adored and praised, so it's actually a fairly solid check on his warmongering. Can't imagine he's especially concerned about any election that doesn't involve him.
Democratic socialist beats out establishment centrist in primary for NYC mayor's race, despite all the establishment, the papers, and the Democratic Party heavily supporting the centrist: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/ckg6yg7x467o
In shock news, looks like you can actually get people to turn out and vote for the Democrats if you offer something positive and left-wing, rather than just, "We're not as bad as Trump." Who wants to bet that the Democratic Party as a whole will not learn this lesson?

If they're anything like the Labour party, they'd rather lose than win with a left winger. They'll pull out all the stops to block Ocasio-Cortez too.

Especially one that's pro-Palestine. Incredible how quickly the political Overton window has shifted to the extent that wanting a two-state solution gets you pariah status - that was the moderate, centrist position not very long ago! Wild also that it seems to have been driven by the shift in Israeli politics (where the opinion of conquering everything has become so mainstream that it's a vital part of the government coalition), rather than by domestic movements in the UK/USA.
Skimmed past a headline about a group of men posing as ICE agents and kidnapping/sexually assaulting a woman. I can’t bring myself to even open or verify it, but Jesus Christ doesn’t it feel inevitable?
I have the most enormous admiration for anyone out there able to keep fighting and not just bury their head in the sand.

There's so much pro-Israel money in politics, both sides of the the house in the US. But it's not just that. There are plenty who are just starry-eyed about Israel, like they're real-life heroes of the Bible. And then there's the Christians who want the end of the world. They just do what Israel says and forgive it every time it slaps them in the face.
I think the moderate, centrist position was to say the words 'two-state solution' every so often and then move back to more important matters.

Heh, yeah true. It's still wild how quickly that's changed in US and UK politics to "Why do you hate all Jews???" if you don't support Israel annexing anything and everything.
This is setting back peer reviewed safety data generated by millions of cases by years. Academia posits a biological mechanism of action. Pharma runs with that by funding clinical trials that emphasize safety and now that effort goes back to square one. CDC and FDA websites are already peddling misinformation that will result in reduced vaccination rates that lead to unnecessary epidemic. Science now has a requisite State sanctioned bias. Unbelievable.
I'm seeing ever more reports of "random" groups of Americans dressing up in armour, masking their faces and kidnapping Latinas off the street, claiming to be ICE; raping them, and discarding them.

Who could possibly have forseen this?
Literally everyone, including the Trump junta. The hope is that Latinas "self-deport" because they don't feel (and aren't) safe.
I refuse to have a battle of wits with an unarmed person.

Good (and horrible) point. It's a feature for them, not a bug.

Yeah, the potential for this being a feature, not a bug is exactly why I'm not searching around to verify or debunk the claims.
I'm not up to seeing anyone celebrate or approve of this shit. Sometimes I have to protect myself from too much news.
For now, I'm just going to tell myself that I'm seeing multiple different people talking about 1 individual case, and getting details confused - in which case, 1 is way too many.
The incompetent callousness with which this ethnic cleansing jolly is being carried out is off the fucking scale. How long until they go after the Civil Rights Act? Everything is paralyzed by fear of unrighteous retribution. Almost last lifeboat on the Titanic time.

Do normal, working, family people still feel this is okay being done in their name? Is there any way through in terms of public opinion swaying and prompting some meaningful change?
It’s hard to imagine how anybody with a sliver of a conscience is okay with what’s happening, but there appears to be such a moral brick-wall between normal people and certain hard-core Trump voters/Republicans.

Short answer, no they do not. The Judiciary branch of government has however been completely hijacked by the executive branch meaning no one can rely on due process in any court. Normal rules no longer apply. It’s in the trenches now.

The Alligator Alcatraz thing in Florida is utterly wild. They've assembled a literal concentration camp, in a swamp, in 8 days, using money from FEMA that won't be replenished because of budget cuts, at the start of storm season, and politicians and pundits are having fun quipping about how they needn't have too much security because the alligators will eat well on any escapees (with some being bold enough to suggest that every inhabitant may become alligator food).
It's a literal concentration camp. And they're selling merch. Literal, official, merchandise. Of a concentration camp. That they've built.

Scapegoats of the regime are dehumanized, not worthy of empathy, only punishment and extermination. We can see where this leads right now in Palestine.
With every step like this sick merch, this evil is normalized.
