Can't help but notice when Laidlaw speaks, Finn listens. Does what he's told. He may be just what Finn needs to sort out this aspect of his game.

I know I have given Laidlaw more stick than probably anyone else on this board over the years... But that score at the end, despite being a breakaway from Horne was created by Greig. He went against the game plan and marshalled the forwards punching into the defensive line and waiting for the gaps to appear. After a couple of fruitful rolling mauls it must be said. He did not let the backs have that ball until the defence had been stretched.

Well done Wales. Very good win. Gatland and Edwards are a very effective coaching team - they know how to set up a team to win against us. Blitz hard, keep the ball in play, smash us at the breakdown and feed off our errors.

It was won and lost in the forwards, we need a backrow and a front row. Watson and McInally werent that bad today but they cant do it themselves.

What other changes you want? I'd bring wilson in too. From your posts it sounds like Finn was to blame whereas he looked fairly innocent to me.

We just got outmuscled. Again. We can’t throw in a flyweight with two bust knees and no rugby under his belt. Dunc Taylor or Dunbar to return if either fit.

I sincerely hope Du Preez has played his last game. Denton might have hands like feet but at least he gets involved when on the pitch. But Wilson is probably the pick as he gives us a line out option which we lacked today. Easy for the Welsh to defend when we only have two lineout options in Toolis and Barclay.

I was assuming both were injured still.

I don't think Wilson will be the answer in the lineout.

Very very bad day at the office and arses need to be kicked from top to bottom including some self reflection for the man at the top of the tree.

The squad won't change so It's the same options that are available (assuming Dunbar and Taylor still injured).

I think there's a need for "not throwing the baby out with the bath water" but some changes are required.

CdP out is a definite. However who replaces him isn't so straight forward. Is Wilson fit enough for more than a 30min cameo? Is Denton a better fit as he is pretty good in the line out and is a hard carrier? Hamilton is also an option. 2 of those 3 should be promoted to the matchday squad.

I'd keep Price. Yes he was honking but he's also been a factor inthe good stuff Scotland have done in the last 9 months. His flat passing wide of rucks also seems important to how Toony wants to play.

Harris out for Horne. He's another option for play making responsibilities. Harris wasn't good yesterday (only got the ball a handful of times to be fair) but neither were more established players but I think Horne will help our attack.

Maitland in for McGuigan. Maitland a bit more savvy. Kinghorn to bench. Boys a potential game changing taken. Give him a chance.

In a sea of shite I continue to be impressed by Rambo, Gray and Watson's work ethic.

We also need to sort out defence out. Too many missed tackles and what seemed like a lack or organisation.

I’m not sure Harris was even worse than Jones particularly. But one of them makes way. Jones gets away with a lot because of how good his good moments in attack are. He still has a lot to improve on.

I’d give Denton a go. If he makes a few carries and a few handling errors that’s still a few carries more than CDP. That was a truly anonymous performance.

My biggest worry is probably how it felt the backs and the forwards were playing a totally different game, like they weren’t even aware of what each other were doing.

Wales simply had to defend the forward pods (generally run quite well by Gray and Toolis) or if Russell gets it they know it’s going wide and fly up in the 13 channel.

It felt like we simply didn’t pick a number 12. We desperately need someone to have some authority in this area of the pitch in both attack and defence. I like Horne but is he the man to do it?

The only thing I disagree with is price. He was shite and cost the 2 tries early on. You can't say x is shite, y is shite drop them but z is shite but has played well before. One of the failings in Scotland is that the golden boys are untouchable, then they fail to kick on or react accordingly.

With the exception of Watson McInally and Grey I wouldnt object to any or all of them getting dropped.

We desperately need another playmaker at 12 as Russell is just too mercurial. Jones strikes me as a 12 who would flourish behind a set, organised 10 like Sexton, but will be rubbish outside Russell. I'd keep Jones at 13 I like a lot of his attacking out there.

More than anything else we need Price and Russell to get back from fucking la la land. Or, dare I say it, bring back Laidlaw. Jesus wept.

He's not untouchable for me. I just wouldn't drop him after 1 really poor game. If Laidlaw is shite next week do we drop him too? It's similar to how I viewed Seymour in the autumn after the NZ game, I tend to give the benefit of the doubt to players who have been good previously.

CdP is a player I like but he has never played well in Scotland colours. He was ok v NZ but he's never impressed.

Harris is victim of a game plan change and me wanting Jones on his best position for us which is 13.

Maitland over McGuigan is just a preference thing really.

Chin up lads, Wales were good for their win, it was always going to be a tough one for us to start with. I’d be extremely surprised if our attack falters like that that again. It’s not the end of the world. Despite what the press have been shitting on about, that wasn’t any sort of “judgment day” or litmus for a false dawn. So fucking tired of everything being absolutes. It’s not a 1 or a 0. Best team ever, oh no we lost, woooooorst team ever. Give me fucking strength.

I’d give that lot another go, maybe bring in Maitland, but that is because I’m still not sold on McGuigan as an international. Nothing against the cat, just think Maitland offeres more.

We do really need to address the ball carrying mind you.
