Great to see Cummings find his feet. I think a lot of people were surprised to see him there at all, but when he plays like this he really is handy in the loose as well as the set piece.
Yep in lock mix now ahead of Ryan and Beirne imoMikey Brown wrote: ↑Sat Jul 05, 2025 12:22 pm Great to see Cummings find his feet. I think a lot of people were surprised to see him there at all, but when he plays like this he really is handy in the loose as well as the set piece.
You’d have thought so.
I'm a big fan of Beirne but he's been a bit underwhelming so far. Looks a bit tired if anything.Banquo wrote: ↑Sat Jul 05, 2025 12:23 pmYep in lock mix now ahead of Ryan and Beirne imoMikey Brown wrote: ↑Sat Jul 05, 2025 12:22 pm Great to see Cummings find his feet. Agreed on both counts.FKAS wrote: ↑Sat Jul 05, 2025 12:50 pmI'm a big fan of Beirne but he's been a bit underwhelming so far. Still going laterally without earning the right as Fin was doing. ROG has it right.
I stopped paying attention for a few minutes so wasn’t sure what I’d missed. Threw a few nice passes.
They did the same stuff as when Fin was on, running moves into a front foot blitz. Couple of nice passes, but that was true of Fin. There’s some thought needed on game plan.Mikey Brown wrote: ↑Sat Jul 05, 2025 12:56 pmI stopped paying attention for a few minutes so wasn’t sure what I’d missed. Threw a few nice passes.
Mitchel MOTM surprised me. Cummings by an absolute mile for me.
Think they need to start settling on combos and test starters. VDF mixed tbf given overall breakdown issues and butchering a try. Scots midfield looked good mainly despite the lack of patience inside. It does appear that we will continue to gamble on the tackle line, but decision making and execution needs a big step up, and needs some familiarity.Mikey Brown wrote: ↑Sat Jul 05, 2025 1:03 pm Yeah, weird energy all game. Maybe expecting them to roll over in the second half like usual?
A few Scottish lads and VDF will be pleased with their day, but not sure how much else.
I’d say Lowe and Freeman are nailed on? Kinghorn looked fine on the wing but much better at fullback. Disappointing day for Keenan but hard to know what state he’s in physically.Banquo wrote: ↑Sat Jul 05, 2025 1:13 pmThink they need to start settling on combos and test starters. Not many certs…Genge, Sheehan, Itoje, MCCarthy, JGP, Russell, Tuipulotu?
Farrell snr very much a Hansen fan tho, but all the wings have been shown up a tad imo. Morgan was poor v Argentina but has momentum now.Mikey Brown wrote: ↑Sat Jul 05, 2025 1:17 pmI’d say Lowe and Freeman are nailed on? Kinghorn looked fine on the wing but much better at fullback. Morgan still ahead at 7 I’d say. Conan at 8 almost by default.
50/50s at tighthead and which centre combo.
I wouldn’t mind seeing Chessum get a run out at 6 alongside Itoje and McCarthy on Wednesday, with an eye to that (with Cummings on the bench) for the tests.
I know he’s a fan, and Freeman hasn’t been flawless but I didn’t think that contest was close right now to be honest.Banquo wrote: ↑Sat Jul 05, 2025 1:24 pmFarrell snr very much a Hansen fan tho, but all the wings have been shown up a tad imo. But it’s not compelling, esp back row which is a concern
