Fuck. Totally forgot about the short turnaround. So much for auditioning players for Japan.

Really gutted Kinghorn won’t get a chance.

You can play 2 games in 4/5 days but realistically not someone who's just been battered by Ireland and gone through 100mph rugby in that humidity and heat against Samoa.

Pretty abject match for the neutral but Scotland handled the conditions so much better. A deserved win.

Incidentally, assuming Japan beat Samoa, we will be playing for the Raeburn Shield in our match against Japan - http://www.raeburnshield.com/.

I think their used to be a thread somewhere for this but couldn't find it.

Dell

Fagerson

Cummings
Wilson
Barclay
Bradbury

Horne
Hastings
Seymour
Horne
Taylor
Harris
Kinghorn

Berghan (covering both sides)
Brown
Nel (only coming on if there's an absolute emergency)
Gilchrist
Chib
Pyrgos
Johnson
Graham

F*ck, that's hard. Have tried to exclude anyone who's played two full games where possible. Maitland being excluded isn't really a sign that he's first choice but he's played 80 x 2 now.
I think we would need to leave Harris out of the firing line. He is the best performing 13 in that squad so needs to play v Japan.

Cameo, the idea of Brown covering 7 isn't a bad one, but would want him starting at 2 and moving to 7 before a back rower comes on rather than starting at 7. Let Rambo rest.

By the same token Bradbury needs to be wrapped in cotton wool ahead of the Japan game. He took a battering against Samoa and needs a bit of rest. I'd seriously consider dropping Gilchrist into 6 and playing Cummings/Toolis in the second row.

I saw Brown starting 7 as the only way to have no forwards starting against both Russia and Japan. Either Brown or Turner can play the whole game and whoever is freshest from Ritchie or Thompson can come on if necessary.

Yep. Barclay, Brown, Wilson backrow I guess. I think it has to be Thomson on the bench because we're screwed if Ritchie goes down.

In what sense? If we'd then lost by 4 points I'd get it.

That is the way I see it.

I also think there is a difference between a tight 5 forward posting that and say Hogg or Finn posting that.

Bradbury did take a battering. But a 40min blast out may not be the worst thing considering his lack of rugby.

Watching the game back Gilchrist put in a better shift than he is being given credit for. He'll be sore too.

Lot of sore guys no doubt. Four locks and five back rows in the squad means one or two are going to have to double up over the five days of the Russia and Japan games. I'd start Turner and let him play 80 if he can, start Wilson, Barclay and Thompson with Bradbury on the bench to replace Chib at half time, with Brown also covering. I know that's a horrible back row and a bit disrespectful to Russia, but I'd be disappointed if they couldn't deliver.

Is the game going to be played in a sauna with a trout for a ball again?

I have a meeting at 9.30 on Wednesday - I figure i'll miss the last 20-25 minutes of the game.

I have Sky+ but won't be at that property for a few days, are there any solutions for watching the entire game later in the day?

It's as expected really isn't it. Need to manage a couple of players game time very carefully here.

Dell
Gray
Thompson
Greig
Russell
Johnson
Hogg
Maitland

All starting
If you want a half competent forward pack for Japan
Mcinally , Nell , gilchrist and Richie need to not come on the pitch.

A couple of bad knocks could be devastating for Scotland’s in the forwards if they have to fly someone over

Should focus on preparing his own team properly. Had he done that and say secured a LBP against Ireland then life would be easier.
