Nah. Just regular kiwis....

Very nice of them to call my brother anyway. Otherwise I'd have had to tie a bunch of sheets together and try to climb down from the fifth floor. Hard to believe that was almost 18 years ago now. Early 2000 :o

Well, if we're going to go down the path of cringeworthy celebs I could provide an endless supply, but top of the list would probably be Nicolas Cage, who has very little acting talent and neither the looks of a heartthrob nor the physique of a genuine tough guy, & certainly only got there through the Cappola family connection.

Bit tough IMO. He's been in so many movies, and a number of them are absolute shite, but he's also been in some good films. Joe, Leaving Las Vegas, and perhaps my favorite movie of all time, Raising Arizona to name a few.

I appreciate he may not have the odylic force you're looking for in a leading man, but then sexual attraction is such a personal thing.

Wild at Heart.

He's no Jean Claude Van Damme in the acting department though.

Haven't seen those films. In fact, I've only seen him in a couple and have been careful to avoid any he is starring in ever since. The guy just makes my flesh crawl. But each to their own - as you say.

Ben Stiller is another, btw. Ghastly little man!

Ed Sheeran. They've got this whiny, tedious, unoriginal little apology for a pop musician on TV now. Part of some poorly dubbed British documentary on the guy. I sure wish they'd dubbed his singing as well!

We need to have a conversation about this . . .

:x

No, we need to talk, or we need to discuss this - if you want to be formal about it. Conversations are what you have with tea and biscuits and half an hour or so to spare.

Hollywood as a launch pad to lecture the world about sexual harassment. Isn't that a little like the mafia lecturing us on organized crime?

:x

If they really cared they'd stop making war films with male American heroes and start making them with female non-American victims - and there is a mountain of material right there...

As loathe as I am to prod you on this issue, and to appear in support of the plastic excess of Hollywood, my interpretation of the issue is not that these people are "lecturing" people outside of their inner circle, but rather serving warning to people within it.

Then a lot of people have been badly misquoted in the media. Moreover, the speakers referred to were closely acquainted with Weinstein & co, as well, and it would be stretching the imagination to suggest they had no knowledge of this before the story broke, since it has been widely regarded as an open secret within the industry.

Do you want to borrow my notes? I kipped through most of it, but managed to blag the salient points from some Korean student who was in the library wearing a onesie.

Cage is proof that you can earn a living without having a single redeeming quality or shred of talent within your chosen field of enterprise.

Or you could just read the plethora of news reports, from both mainstream media & alternative. Just for instance. This one's by a female author:

What's the one he did with Kylie Minogue? The song was ok in a weird, gothic sort of way, but the video was awful. Kylie actually played a dead person, if I recall it correctly.

That's Nick Cave Uncle Bulgaria...

That almost reads like my annual performance review. Chuck in a bit about idleness and you're there.

Thing is, if Oprah didn't know about Weinstein's antics, having worked for decades in the industry where it was an open secret, she must be incredibly naive, so she would hardly be in a position to lecture others on the issue (let alone ever think about running for the top job). Hypothetically speaking, of course.

American soul singer Seal has claimed Oprah Winfrey knew for years about Harvey Weinstein’s abuses, and has slammed the talk show host for being ‘sanctimonious’ and a hypocrite.

Wouldn't surprise me if she became president anyway. As we've already seen, anything and everything is possible in American politics. At least her popular public image might prevent her from just going and bombing a bunch of countries willy-nilly. That would pretty much go against everything she claims to have stood for over the past few decades.
