Hamlet Cup - S28

Post by WaspInWales »

As previously mentioned, I will be stepping down from my role with the Hamlet Cup at the end of this season so really would appreciate someone else taking up the mantle if possible.

In the meantime, we may as well get the ball rolling for S28. I will email all participants on BR and update this thread whenever I can but I will not be able to arrange any fixtures or post results/updates for next season.

Is anyone doing this? I haven't got much time on my hands but I'll give it a go if no one else can.

Is it easy enough to set up and follow scores without hunting for them?

No-one has stepped forward till now Carts so it was looking like a S28 washout.

It's fairly straight forward to arrange fixtures but as some people can be away from BR for a little while, it's far from ideal in order for them to be accepted in time. Also, it can be a little time consuming collecting results, updating the spreadsheets, website and thread on here. If you fancy a go, you will need to be added as an assistant so you will be able to access the control panel and from there you can arrange the fixtures. I can send you some spreadsheets which you can use to update the scores and the table will be calculated for you and then you will need to update the tables on the webs site then update the thread here with the results and link to the tables.

Once I get relegated at the end of the season, I'll probably be able to sort things out again for S29.

I'll set up the fixtures now if you like, 3 groups of 6 with promotion/relegation from last year? unless there are massive changes in teams entered in which case go by BR ranking?

ok so i've started with promoton/relegation from last year then looked at which teams are not returning.
  • there was 1 missing from Div1, so I've slotted one of flemishgael's teams in based on word ranking of 650 which matches with the rest of the teams in Div1.
there were 3 missing from Div2, so I've promoted an extra 2 teams from Div3, whose rankings were very different from the rest of the Div3 teams, plus slotted in flemishgaels 2nd team also based on world ranking.
the rest of the teams are in Div3, including flemishgaels 3rd team, so that's a nice result for him too, one team in each Div.
consequently Div1 teams are all ranked in the top 1000 in the word, div2 are all 1000 to 2000 and Div3 are all over 2000. while still staying true to the promotion/relegation aspect, so it worked out quite well.

with 6 teams in each league that's only 10 games home and away so we can start in week 4, giving everyone time to accept the fixtures, while finishing the league in week 13, plenty of time to rest players before finals and challenges etc.

Thanks Cymroo. Having done the administration for this for a few seasons, I can relate to what a massive pain in the arse it is to generate all the fixtures!

Any word on how the tables look?

I've won all 4 games so far :) So I'm pretty happy with that.

Any word on the rankings? All games gone now, no?

Will the HC continue or is it dead?

It needs someone to organise it. At the moment I can't given a small
Baby that sucks up all my spare time, but if someone volunteers to take a turn for a season or 2 then there are still plenty of participants to make it work.

Would love to be able to put aside more time for the HC but I've just committed most of my free time to something else.

If someone else can garner interest for S29, I may be able to sort out the fixtures and update some of the HC site stuff.

Cutting it fine being W14 though.
