...from summer tour to Aus.
Huw Jones needs surgery on nasty sounding hammy injury...out for 4-5 months.

That's a shame. You reckon the stormers will just let him go straight to Glasgow?

Do you think our players are being worked too hard? Or is the injury crisis just bad luck?
One thing is for sure - we're the fittest team in the 6N IMO.
Wishing Jones a speedy recovery. There is a flip side - Matt Scott deserves a run.

I think it is a combination of things.
Jones hadn't played any rugby of real intensity since the AI's prior to the 6N.
5 games in 7 weeks at that intensity (well 4 in 6 excluding Italy) is hard on anyones body, there were a few teams losing players to injury by the end. This will get worse when they lose another rest week. Imagine playing away to France, home to Ireland and away to England 3 weeks on the bounce.
We are a fit team but I don't think the injuries are down to that. Most of them have been in game knocks (head injures, Laidlaw etc). It is just a symptom of how physical the games are and a bit of luck.
I feel for Jones, he picks some cracking lines at 13 and despite seeming quiet I maintain he was integral to a lot of our good attacking play.

Obviously the injury is a dull one, but this pretty much rules him out of all Stormers games. Common sense should prevail and the Stormers release him into SRU care with presumably insurers picking up his wage?

Wouldn't the SRU's insurers, as opposed to the SRU, have to pay the Stormers his wages? If so, then the SRU may not bother taking him early and let him see out a few months in CT.
Don't know, though.

Hopefully, he `ll be able to resume, fully restored, next season.. Missing most of a S.R. season at least prevents further damage to a major asset.
Any update on the state of Bennett`s joints.?

Also, I'm not sure when he officially starts with Glasgow, but I should say that the Stormers have a relatively easy draw again this year (albeit he Jaguares have improved), so he could well be involved at the business end of the super rugby season, injury permitting.

Did you misspell Matt Scott ?

I can see why some would be keen for Taylor to get a run in the summer.
I think Scott deserves another go but he and Dunbar as a partnership promised much but never really delivered consistently much the same as Scott's international career thus far which has been inconsistent.
Taylor has been very good in his last few internationals aswell. My argument would be those were too long ago for him to jump back ahead of scott.
I'm a fan of Scott and think he can come good at the top level but he now has 36 caps behind him so if he gets yhe chance he deserves he has to take it with good performances much like Taylor and Jones have done.

Absolutely, but I feel he deserves a stab at it. I'm trying to find a useful stats page on ESPN to see how many times they played together. I didn't feel like it was that many. A 6 nations and an autumn series? Though I had no idea he'd got many caps either, which probably says something.
Also doesn't have many caps outside Russell that I can see, which I'd like to see more of as his late lines and acceleration could really give the counterpoint to Russell's silly drifty thing that he loves doing so much.
It may be bollocks as I've clearly forgotten a bunch of his caps, but I feel the back play has moved on recently and he could really add something with the right players either side of him. Taylor still made some mistakes when playing well and lord knows what is going on with Bennet.
That was a bit of a derailment really. I'm gutted for Jones who has mostly looked class since appearing.

Scott started his international career in 2012 6N so he's been around a while. He's only recently fallen our of favour & Bennett/Dunbar have spent their fair share of time on the sidelines.

It looked to me like he broke the bottom of his tibia or fibula. Hope not. I've done that and it's a a bugger.
