They have Cardiff Blues tighthead Dillon Lewis who won his 1st cap off the bench against Tonga.

Sadly they will pick Cory Allan possibly to start... but he will show nothing new. Patchell deserves the nod to see how he has progressed this year andI hope that Morgan and Griffiths get a chance to step up.

You were pretty much spot on apart from Tyler Morgan & Cory Allen for Scott Williams & Keelan Giles.
Chuffed for Elias & Lewis in the front row both have massive potential.
Ellis Jenkins deserves a start, another top prospect.
We need both young locks to have the games of their lives.
It's going to be a long 80mins for this young side.
Biggest downside of the whole tour for me is Keelan Giles ommission.

If he suddenly found a new grandparent, we could have no complaints.

This us another Shane Williams syndrome...lack of any vision to see further than their nose.
As I already said Allen offers us nothing in the attack mode and little in defence that impressed me.
As a hit up centre he has something ..as a devastating attacking winger..nothing yet.

One last pop athe not selecting Patchell...why do they bother ...if you are not going to.play him.
So Patchell..Giles and Thomas get no game time

.

Typical Welsh selection.
Patchell ended the season in great form - not used.
Sam Davies started the season in superb form - not selected in autumn. Ends the season in awful form - starts both games on tour.
Absolutely bonkers as usual.

Blydi heck you have deciphered the selection code...they only select you when you are out of form. They put you in the squad and wait till you are not playing well before they put you in the team .Then they can say that they were correct not to select your before..
So that explains it all...why Cuthbert was picked so often :D

Its like the Enigma code. Use it too often and it gets broken. Now all we need is Bon Jovi to make a shyte film about it!

Keelan Giles not even on the bench. I am genuinely surprised.... how naive of me! Management stupidity continues to reach new heights.

So a winger who has scored 14 tries in a season is being held back by a centre who has hardly played this year. So Giles now has 1/2p, North, Sanjay, Amos, Cuthbert, Steff Evans AND Allen ahead of him. Are they deliberately trying to piss off the fans? Do they really want Giles to move to some other country (or discover a convenient granny) where he will be appreciated? I guess they weren't lying when they said this wasn't a development tour.

I'm struggling to care what happens in this match. We're clearly picking by size rather than ability (let alone form).

Totally agree, ridiculous decision to have a centre on the wing when we have one of the most exciting prospects available to us, he won't be finding a convenient granny though SOM as he played for the U20s so is tied to Wales.

Good point, one glimmer of light in all this nonsense
It is difficult to imagine how much more Giles could have done to earn a chance for Wales. Even Evans will probably find it difficult to get a game once all the others return from the Lions or injury.
I guess this shows us Wales's management's thinking on the matter: wingers aren't there to score tries: they're just another defender.

The only possible reason I can see is he's on the field for crossfield kicks.

It's a shame that McBryde is getting this succession opportunity, Dai Young is the best Welsh coach about imo and he has no aversion to small wingers.

Your are right there...but from what I have seen Stephen Jones and the Ospreys coaches team are ahead of him.

If Wayne Pivac carries on the way he is ...then he would be a better choice than Howler and Mcbryde.

I think this puts into context why a number of coaches dropped out of this tour.

If the Scarlets can continue as they finished this season AND carry this form into Europe then he would be perfect for the job. Assuming that the WRU are happy to move to a totally different strategy to the one we've employed for the last decade.

I agree it would be a turn around but if we are going to be competive post Gatland then that will be the type of chsnge that is needed.I don't think the WRU really decide what style they play as long as the matches are sold out ...or am I too cynical :D

BBC2 is so low-resolution it's like watching a game back in the 1970s.

Unfortunately I doubt the rugby will be that good.
