1. Rock and roll, not metal but heavyish rock. One of my favourite albums ever is Costello Music so something along those lines.
2. Tuneful soul. American soul, northern soul, anything that tells a story in melodies

I hadn't actually watched it until now... lets just say its not quite what I'm after.

Is that a reference to The Eels..?. I suspect it is.
I'm listening almost exclusively to Lordes. Some of her lyrics are pure genius.
'Only bad people get to see themselves immortalised in stone'.
Not an easy sentence to combine with melody or rhythm.
