Not yet, he isn't. At least, not according to that article, and not according to any official announcement by the SARFU yet either. But it would hardly been earth-shattering news if he is.

Set up to fail?

Cape Town - Former Springbok coach Peter de Villiers says he warned Allister Coetzee that he was set up to fail by SA Rugby as national coach.

STATS: How Coetzee's tenure stacks up

This comes after it was announced on Friday that SA Rugby and Coetzee’s had parted ways.

De Villiers, meanwhile, has been linked with the Zimbabwe job, as has British coach Collin Osborne: https://www.thestandard.co.zw/2018/01/1 ... ables-job/

It's going to be really interesting to see who emerges behind Namibia (presumably) to take the repechage spot. Could be basically anyone. Kenya and Zimbabwe would be favourites, but watch out for the North Africans - especially newly promoted Morocco who again beat Tunisia in the Maghrebi tournament several weeks ago. Uganda are no pushovers either, In fact, they thumped Zimbabwe last year and also posted 78 points against Tunisia. So anything is possible where the repechage spot is concerned.

Meanwhile Coetzee himself has been appointed as the new coach of Japanese Top League club Canon Eagles on a one-year deal.

The match between the NMU Madibaz and Maties was stopped nine minutes into the second half when protesters threw chairs onto the field :o
