Got to ask how many times the ref is going to let the Aussies kill it a couple of metres from the line before he produces the card that should have come on the first one.

It's an anomaly in the laws that an offence which would get yellow if penalised does not result in a card if advantage is played and gained.

Now that they're over the line, it's not as big a thing, but, again, the howling inconsistency of that yellow card is amazing.

Michael Cheika likes to play 2 opensides, with one physical loose forward to attempt to compensate for any lost physicality at the breakdown. Results have... varied. Like, it worked once against the All Blacks in 2015, with Fardy at 6 and Pocock at 8 (Sean McMahon replacing him when Pocock was unavailable), but was brutally exposed. Yeah I’m familiar with it, Scotland are doing a similar thing, with similar struggles to find an 8 that fills the void. I really was just saying he’s still a 7, if wearing 6. I wish I hadn’t.

That was an appalling refereeing performance. I'm delighted we won so I don't have to expend useless energy thinking that we might have won but for it.
Decent performance by us. Thought POM seriously stepped up which helped out Nordi. With a more even breakdown everything else improved. I think that Sexton was still off his game a little. Furlong is immense.
I don't think that was our best team out and I hope we will improve again next time round

I can't remember the number of times I have seen some lout who has no chance of making a tackle resort to the cheap and abysmally childish shot of sliding in knees first into someone in the process of scoring a try. I think of Cohen doing it to Girve at Twickenham back in 2004 and the latest is the fecker Haylett-Petty. Ward is right; this is fecking dangerous and the twat of an assistant ref who can clearly see should have called the try and the penalty restart.

Beyond that I am fuming over Conway's injury, shipped while in the act of scoring. It was not self-inflicted as has been suggested in some reports. Is it going to take a really serious injury before World Rugby addresses has long been a blight on the game? Apart from having your arms trapped at the bottom of a ruck I cannot think of a more exposed and, as a consequence, more vulnerable position than when crossing for a try. I couldn't tell you when I last saw a match official restart a game by way of a penalty on the halfway line to the scoring side. Here for sure is a very real cancer on the game.
