Unchanged, with Paul James, Webb & Charteris on the bench

Who would you have on the bench instead of Anscombe?stud muffin wrote:No surprises, Still cant see the point of having Priestland & Anscombe on the bench.
Amos perhaps? Maybe even Morgan for something completely different. Neither of Priestland or Anscombe offer us much cover in positions other than fly half and full back.Dacre wrote:Who would you have on the bench instead of Anscombe?stud muffin wrote:No surprises, Still cant see the point of having Priestland & Anscombe on the bench.
Amos would be the safe choice, Morgan the gamble. Both have the pace to cover wing better than Anscombe.Sandydragon wrote:Amos perhaps? Maybe even Morgan for something completely different. Shame about Geth being injured. I've been enjoying his turnover-generating cameos.Tre wrote:Unchanged, with Paul James, Webb & Charteris on the bench
I would have Amos - I wouldn't have Matthew Morgan anywhere near the squad for the England game. I would have MM on the bench for the Italy gameSandydragon wrote:Amos perhaps? In fairness, we're going to have Alex Goode on the bench, a specialist 15 there just in case our other four 15s get injured, so maybe you've done it to be nice to us and even the odds?stud muffin wrote:No surprises, Still cant see the point of having Priestland & Anscombe on the bench.
Sam Davies and another winger - against England! Can I have some of what you are drinking as it must really calm you down! Nothing against Sam, but it is way too early (IMO) to put him into a 6 Nations squad - a couple of years and I wouldn't have any problems.Billyfish wrote:I'd prefer Sam Davies and a winger. Any winger as long as he can tackle a bit and run faster than Tom James in a straight line.
Sams time will come, I expect he will get a run in the next season or so. For now, I think our back up fly half is Priestland, which doesn't fill me with dread. I still regard Biggar as the better option, for the moment.Dacre wrote:Sam Davies and another winger - against England! Can I have some of what you are drinking as it must really calm you down! At present, Sam Davies looks a better all round fly half than Priestland. Form should count fo something. He'd be worth a punt on the bench.Sandydragon wrote:Sams time will come, I expect he will get a run in the next season or so. I agree that Davies is on better form than Priestland. But I wouldn't want him thrown into that game, at least Priestland has some experience. If Davies messed up, it wouldn't be forgotten quickly, I'd rather he was introduced in a less important game. Given Gatlands game plan, this will be a time for experienced players.Spiffy wrote:At present, Sam Davies looks a better all round fly half than Priestland. Form should count fo something. Yup, this mostly too. "Will he ever fit the Gatplan" will be the next question, probably followed closely by "should he?"Sandydragon wrote:I agree that Davies is on better form than Priestland. Other than his defensive frailties you could argue he is the most rounded 10 in Wales, he is also the best kicking out of hand which suits Gatball down to the ground (other than the fact he does like to find touch).Billyfish wrote:Yup, this mostly too.
