No surprises, Still cant see the point of having Priestland & Anscombe on the bench.

Who would you have on the bench instead of Anscombe?

Amos perhaps? Maybe even Morgan for something completely different. Neither of Priestland or Anscombe offer us much cover in positions other than fly half and full back.

Morgan would offer something very different, but I would prefer Amos there. Looking forward to when 1/2p and Scott Morgan are back fit again

Amos would be the safe choice, Morgan the gamble. Both have the pace to cover wing better than Anscombe.

I do kind of wonder why Morgan is even in the squad - he's the antithesis of Gatball, which is why he's got nowhere near the team.

Shame about Geth being injured. I've been enjoying his turnover-generating cameos.

I would have Amos - I wouldn't have Matthew Morgan anywhere near the squad for the England game. I would have MM on the bench for the Italy game

That is my view as well.

I would not even be that happy with Nipper for the Italian game, but it would be the only game he could be risked in - it might answer a few questions.

In fairness, we're going to have Alex Goode on the bench, a specialist 15 there just in case our other four 15s get injured, so maybe you've done it to be nice to us and even the odds?

I'd prefer Sam Davies and a winger. Any winger as long as he can tackle a bit and run faster than Tom James in a straight line.

Sam Davies and another winger - against England! Can I have some of what you are drinking as it must really calm you down! Nothing against Sam, but it is way too early (IMO) to put him into a 6 Nations squad - a couple of years and I wouldn't have any problems.

Which winger?

Sams time will come, I expect he will get a run in the next season or so. For now, I think our back up fly half is Priestland, which doesn't fill me with dread. I still regard Biggar as the better option, for the moment.

Aye, I know. One day soon praps.

Amos instead of Anscombe.

Shame about Gethin, he was all over the field when he came on against France.

Yes. On to Twickenham to give that Grand Slam Chariot's back doors a damn good smashing.

At present, Sam Davies looks a better all round fly half than Priestland. Form should count fo something. He'd be worth a punt on the bench.

I agree that Davies is on better form than Priestland. But I wouldn't want him thrown into that game, at least Priestland has some experience. If Davies messed up, it wouldn't be forgotten quickly, I'd rather he was introduced in a less important game. Given Gatlands game plan, this will be a time for experienced players.

Yup, this mostly too. "Will he ever fit the Gatplan" will be the next question, probably followed closely by "should he?"

Other than his defensive frailties you could argue he is the most rounded 10 in Wales, he is also the best kicking out of hand which suits Gatball down to the ground (other than the fact he does like to find touch).

Unfortunately Sam needs to be playing week in week out at 10 to get near the squad so it's not likely to happen anytime soon.

I'd like to think that if he carries on as he has been, he will get a look at the next AIs. I'm not sure a trip to NZ is the place for a new cap, I think that might be painful enough for the more experienced players.
