"I
njuries and rotation mean Wales have chosen scrum-halves Gareth Davies and Tomos Williams as their only backs on the bench, alongside six forwards.
That means there will be no specialist fly-half cover for Rhys Patchell, who starts at 10 in Biggar's absence.
Gatland has suggested the cover will come from Parkes, who has limited experience of playing professional rugby at fly-half, or Amos, who has never played at 10 in his senior career.
The replacement scrum-halves might also be asked to cover the fly-half position.
The Wales coach says having four days between the Fiji and Uruguay games has enforced "a bit of a juggling act" and selection discussions included asking flanker James Davies to play in the backs.

Interesting selections and does this mean all the squad will have had game time?
I can’t think it is going to be anything more than a tough first sixty minutes but we will pull away in the last quarter.
It will be good to see how Amos and Halfpenny go because they will be important backup as we go forward.

Its an interesting team, but given the schedule and injuries, it makes sense.
Hopefully we can get some breathing space by half time and let a few key players depart. Given that line up, it wouldn't surprise me if Tips found himself in the centres if we decide that a few backs need a breather (or James Davies on the wing).

Wales have to go out at 100 MPH for this - you need breathing space by half time so you can swap things up if needed…
If they're still in touching distance when you start moving forwards to the centres and having three scrum halves on the pitch, you could unravel
And I'd really like for you not to do that! Thanks.

Two scrum halves worked well for us against England in 2015. Imagine what we could do with three

Ordinarily I'd chide Wales for being disrespectful with this selection, but TBH given the situation I don't see what else they could do.
31 players in a RWC squad is looking barmier by the day.

This should be a good watchable game.

There is someone in the crowd who is very watchable at least.

Gardners positioning is terrible. A number of times now he has been in the way of play

Dear me, only a point in it at half time and Uruguay are good for it. Most of these players are playing themselves out of any further part in the competition.

I wonder what Gats is saying? Maybe "Hey guys, when you've got an overlap, maybe try a draw and pass rather than spannering the ball straight to the outside man?"

Uruguay comfortably winning the hot-chick cam competition.

So if a warning is given about a yellow for infringing in the red zone, does that just get forgotten about if a try is scored?

The ref is crap. He refused to card the French in his first game and god knows how many warnings he's given in this one.

I don't know. He's pretty good at picking up forward passes.

Well that was brainless. The only explanation I can think of for 7 blue giving away that penalty (and card) is not fully understanding the rules of rugby. Is that even possible?

The ruck has been a farce tonight.
That said, this is a very poor performance from us.

Looks like Parkes is going the full80. Bit surprised at that.
