Cheers for the reminder cat man, I completely forgot about it today.

The fucking state of Weir... it seems to me there should be some sort of law about the amount of tartan one man can display... That's about 9 foot of tartan. That's too much Doddie.

What happened to the young brothers? Never seemed to make an impact.

You lot see that Jed Forest try from their own tryline despite having 2 men in the bin? Blimey...

I've never been a huge fan of 7s but I enjoyed watching this. I'm even considering going along next year. Anyone been before? Is it worth it? I've been to the Wellington 7s, but that seems to be more about fancy dress and getting pissed than any of the rugby.

Slightly off topic, but that ghastly high tackle on the young Accies flyer reminded me of the exciting and varied sporting experience that was available in a fixture with Gala YM...
Many years ago, I should add..

Melrose Sports is a great day.. Plus the weather is usually good..

It is good fun. Been quite a few times. There is a fair bit of getting pissed but I've always been driving.

One thing I reckon is that if possible they should put it a bit later especially if they want the clubs to be able to compete with the pros. Right now teams like melrose will have had no sevens training time as they have key matches and a cup final coming up. In a few weeks they will have had some tournaments together. Even as it is the pros normally have a couple of very close games but normally pull through. Also, the weather might be more reliable

Think I'll take a trip along next year then. I've got Family in Melrose so shouldn't have a problem finding somewhere to sleep.

I've seen it suggested that they should expand the tournament and have pros separate from amateurs.

I think that would be a pity. Great if you can stay down

I know the game has changed, but the event would be diminished by having two competitions, which event would have the trophy..?
The great Gala seven from the seventies were on a par with "Pro" for their time, but they were sometimes dumped in an early round..
(The only times they had a hot shower, I understand..!)

Yeah, not sure where I saw it suggested. Might have been the Hootsman. The amateur guys probably love having the opportunity to play against the pros and the chance of knocking them out.
