Drop goal from kick off?

In the pub and we're debating if there's any law against it? Anyone know? If you need 3 points to win in the last minute, having just scored, and you have Matt Dunning on the bench - is it a legal option?

You can't score a drop-goal from anything but open play, I'm afraid.
