Now I'm not a big fan of Ken, but this witch hunt of anyone who says anything critical of Israel is feckin' ridiculous. The John Mann stunt, was just that a stunt. You can see keep looking round to make sure he is on camera. Pr1ck.

agree with all that. Very odd way the Labour party are behaving over this....in the faux outrage society we are currently developing into, no-one will want to say anything for fear of offence and subsequent witch hunt.

Is the whole thing about his "Hitler supported Zionism" quote, or is there more?
Or the part where he implies Hitler was sane before he killed 6 million?
Either way, it doesn't look pretty, regardless of the historical facts he was referring to about Nazi policy on the emmigration of Jews to Palestine (Haavara Agreement).

The left are being accused of anti-semitism despite their last leader being of jewish heritage, it's a joke that he's been suspended.

Seems to me this is a manufactured controversy.

So obviously a set up. Two camera crews just happened to be available at exactly that time....yeah right.
Mann should be suspended for his behaviour.
But this is all part of the undermine Corbyn campaign that has been running ever since he looked on course to win the leadership.
There's elections next week, I think.........

I take it we're done with the tax scandal then?
Absolute stitch-up.

I'm amazed with how the mainstream media operates. Massive scandals quickly get forgotten but there's always time for a hatchet job.
God forbid a royal baby, wedding or funeral...those things can run for weeks!

I get the impression that the Daily Politics always has a camera crew following some Blairite MP or other around in the hope he'll do something to undermine Corbyn. That said what Livingstone said was stupid and rambling and his defence on the DP even more so.

The whole thing seems like a bit of a stitch up. Just as Corbyn starts to settle the party and looks like he is making inroads, the Blairites and the establishment need a new issue to shake the boat. I understand that the state of Israel is intertwined with Jewish religion and culture, but I haven't seen anything that couldn't quite easily be construed as a direct comment on Israel the state. A discussion needs to be had, this is a deliberate ploy to hush that discussion. Who is digging for years old posts by low level Labour MPs? Who is walking around with television cameras at the exact time a senior member is making comments on Israel?

What did he actually say? The nazis believed jews should be grouped together even before they came up with the final solution. On the completion of the reich (when they controlled half of Poland etc) they were horrified by the number of jews. The nazis initially supported the idea of zionism... They didnt care too much about jewish "emancipation" mind.

I believe it happened in the lobby where there must be 4 or 5 news crews pretty much permanently stationed, along with plenty of newspaper and radio journalists. If you are going to ambush Livingstone then that's the place to do it.

How Israel lobby manufactured UK Labour Party’s anti-Semitism Crisis.

The way labour are handling this whole affair is shameful. It's s witch hunt. It's all so very Orwellian with anti Zionism being conflated with racism. Zionism is racist in my view.

The Winstanley piece is a good one but so is this
https://opendemocracy.net/uk/jamie-ster ... ponents-do
I did enjoy this comment in reaction to another blog elsewhere.
"This is getting silly. A right wing blogger unearths a two year old tweet which Shah associated herself with and members of the Labour Party start taking lumps out of each other. John Mann becomes apoplectic and accuses Ken Livingstone of being a Nazi sympathizer. Wes Streeting, miffed that Corbyn is still leader, vents his spleen on just about everyone he doesn't like. Chris Bryant shows off. Sadiq Khan panics over losing London's Jewish vote and now a little-known academic decides that all the Labour Left are at least semi Nazi.
Meanwhile, the Israelis continue to kick the shit out of the Palestinians and David Cameron looks on as the main opposition party tears itself to pieces again.
Now, just who benefits from this?"

Thanks for that.
I have to say that I'm finding Corbyn's leadership underwhelming.
He should be kicking Blairite heads. Not giving in to them. He had a mandate but he seems to be squandering it.

What more can Corbyn do? He's acted and they've been suspended. Fairly promptly in my opinion too. Plenty of Jewish representation in the party. Be interesting to compare numbers with Dave and chums. What do the likes of Gerald Kaufman have to say? I bet he's not bothered in the slightest. Strange how a very difficult fortnight for Cameron, becomes a difficult week for Corbyn. Talk about diverting eyes from the ball. Ancient history being dug up and used to make Corbyn look grubby. I wonder what the ethnic make up and faith stance of The Bullingdon Club has been down the years? Not too many jews present when Dave was porking the pig, you'd imagine.

It's why Cameron pays big bucks for Lynton Crosby

As do a number of "leaders" in other countries.

He shouldn't have suspended either of them. The allegations are absurd.
He's giving in (again) to the Blairite extremists.

Aye.
Wonder if Gerry Adams will be suspended?
