It's becoming increasingly difficult to find unbiased news, and also news that highlights important world events.

I have less interest in the minutiae of the Epstein report, and more interest in the protests in Nepal and Indonesia. Yet on the Granuiad, the former is given low priority, while the latter isn't even mentioned.

Are there any decent portals for news that are not behind a paywall like Ground News is?

Ideally I'm looking to hear more about "positive" world events, such as the youth standing up to political corruption like in Nepal, or cases like the reporting on the England Serbia football game, where dissidence against the President was shut down with force (it was reported as fighting between Serbian fans, not as secret police silencing chants against the government).

Define "not even mentioned" - because I read a few articles on it yesterday on the Guardian
Whilst currently, it's stories #2, 4, 5, & 7 in Guardian Asia
! of those articles is also on the front page, under "More Features" - about 1/5 of the way down the home page
The front page DOES mention Epstein higher up than Nepal - as part of "British Politics" - and its the story on Mandelson's involvement (Mandelson and Epstein - I'm not sure who's reputation is more tarnished by that association)

ETA: Sorry, I think I misunderstood - the above is for Nepal; I'd read it as "the former" as meaning Epstein, and "the latter" as meaning Nepal & Indonesia - my mistake.

You're right on Indonesia - the latest article I can see there is a week old now - but there were a fair few articles 2-3 weeks ago when it was all kicking off. Seems it's more been bumped down by more recent events elsewhere.

Generally though, it sounds like you're asking for Al Jazeera / Reuters / Associate Press - except for the desire for "positive" news events, as positive spin simply doesn't generate clicks, and therefore revenue (compared to negative, or even neutral).
I'm not going to blame a UK publication for concentrating more on UK-news-worthy reporting.

Oh, I'm not going to blame the Guardian for focusing on UK news, there's a reason it's still my "go-to", but I still am looking for something else. Perhaps I'm looking for something too niche, that is interested in the kind of topics I am interested in...

And yes, that was not clear enough. There are a fair few Nepal stories, but the lack of Indonesia stories is something...and drawing a connection between these. I find the "commentaries" on the Guardian extraordinarily bland.
