Apparently, he is no longer Lame Williams, having had an op and could be set for a move to England, with Newcastle Red Bulls interested in signing him.

Ordinarily I'd dismiss this as 'Agents will link anyone and everyone to Newcastle now that they're cashed up', but it does actually make a lot of sense. He'd be a short-term boost of quality to try and keep this transitional Newcastle squad off the bottom of the table and his experience would be invaluable in a callow backline - there's no doubt he could teach their youngsters a hell of a lot.
Would only be for one season, you suspect, but it would be a move that suits all and Williams deserves to have a better swansong than he got last year.

Good luck to him. If he can stay fit then any club will benefit from his experience and he’s still good enough for club rugby.

Now confirmed. Diamond's quotes are fun:
"Liam's 34 years of age, so we've got to look after him," added Diamond.
"He'll be like a tube of toothpaste, we just need to squeeze it gently to get the most out of him over the next 12 months.
"He's not coming to play 30 games, he's coming to play 15, 20 games for us and it's not what he brings on the field, it's what he brings around the whole environment.
"I like blokes like him. He's got a great reputation, I met him on holiday in the summer and had a bit of a chat. He's got through his injuries, he's as fit as a butcher's dog and he has a really good mental attitude."
