Granted, the title is out of reach, but second place would be their best finish in a long while, whereas defeat might see them wind up second bottom to Italy . . .
Spared the latter ignominy by England's plunging fortunes, but yet another bottom-half-of-the-table finish for Les Bleus.
If they're good enough to play at World Cups, why not in between?

I have no idea how we won that! France deserved the win, but sometimes it’s not meant to be.

"It was a similar story in round one this year. How differently this championship might have panned out if the French had not gifted Johnny Sexton so many penalty shots in Paris. Penalties are one thing if they are forced by opposition excellence, but France yield too many for no real reason at all. This has not been a good championship for the ill-disciplined"

That's nail in the thingy..

We have given so many easy points while being dominant most of the time in almost every game ..

With our first three fly half injured, our first two scrum half injured, Some other like Fofana and an handfull of our best players sanctionned after Edimburgh... And yet, without having had any time to prepare properly for anything else than defence this team has shown a lot to hope for...

Without accident Brunel will stay at the helm as he is the lover of Laporte and one year might even be enough for this team to enter the next WC with the head high..

Your game plan has been very simple, but effectively so. Discipline is your Achilles heel.

That plus a reliable fly half.

Yes, it's difficult to establish a complex game plan in a couple of week, but it hasn't been preventing the guys to be threatening; and our three first fly-halves are injured..

Discipline will probably come with more cohesion...I hope so.

Crash-bash rugby. Didn't watch the whole game but it looked dreadful.

Just wrote about it on the Global Results Thread. The French scrum was magnificent. Could this generation lead France to World Cup victory in the 2020s? Remember, they host the 2023 event!
