On reflection, the difference was a superior bench and smarter sub strategy.

You know, that's turning into a really annoying habit from your lot. You're like the anti-Wales - looking nailed on for a defeat before throwing it away.

Very poor game management by the Safferd. Failure to find 3 points to make it 3 scores cost them a game they deserved to win

We spent 3/4 of the game kicking the ball straight to them, so it all irons out in the end.

That was a ridiculous escape. Great effort to come back.

Tough for SA who were the better team for most of the game.

I’m wondering if altitude was a factor in our kicking, because we consistently overcooked kicks from hand. We hardly managed to force a contest. Or maybe we just had a collective shocker.

Could be something in the altitude point. That was only B.B.’s second start on the veldt and first ever match at Loftus.

The Springboks should be giving themselves a well-deserved kick up the arse. They had that game in the bag and could not close it out. But fair play to the ABs who never give up and showed great character to nick it at the end.

He will be OK but is out for several months apparently. Matt Todd has to be the call up for the November games, surely.

cashead wrote:Todd or Hunt, IMO.

Todd is the more out-and-out jackal, and he's also been part of the system for several years now as the default 3rd-choice openside (essentially the Braid to Cane's McCaw and Savea's Holah).

Hunt, aged 23, would be the choice for the long-term, but a year out from the RWC, I suppose that wouldn't be the priority.

Todd is a way different animal to Braid boss. Holah too. The GOAT is an anomaly that doesn't exist now. Braid is more Mark Carter than Holah.
