Tho that would be for his actions on the rugby pitch where misogyny doesn't really come into play.
The location & context is irrelevant. He intentionally snapped a prone & trapped opponents arm beyond the elbow. Being disrespectful and sexist towards women isn't quite in the same league mate...
Not really, if you think that what they did amounts to "being sexist and disrespectful to women" then you are in the minority. What Callum Clark did was despicable but not really in the same league as ruining someone's life..

You're here, on the Irish board, arguing with our resident [insert favourite insult here] about anything related to acts against a woman?

This is the internet, there are some battles that are not just unwinnable, they're not worth fighting.

And look at the fecking mess you've made of the place!!!!!!

Frankly gentlemen, the sport around these parts is sparse enough. I have been gently coaxing Huge along with the odd well-tied fly and an occasional sprinkling of tasty bait and then you noisy ballixes jump in with your fistfuls of stale Hovis, yelling and splashing and stirring up the bottom feeders. You have ruined the run for those of us who like the gentler battle.

You're aware he's not guilty, right?

The only thing you should be judging him on his his conduct in the whatsapp group messages & general misogynistic attitude. Which is indeed despicable but a million miles away from purposely snapping someones arm. Not quite in the same league as having consensual sex & gloating about it afterwards.

Dear god I can't believe I'm going to say this but hugh has a point. Paddy was acquitted. That doesn't mean that he was innocent but it means that you have to treat him as though he was. He effectively served a year ban in the run up to and period after the trial. He is serving an effective international ban. That doesn't mean that London Irish were right to sign him. Nor am I saying that people shouldn't boycott if that's how they feel. But there's a strong element here of him being singled out when there are plenty of others who deserve similar treatment.

I don't think that anyone is contesting the acquittals, Eugene. By the same token I don't think that PJ is being singled out or that his acquittal means that no administrative sanction is appropriate - I offer the Australian reaction to Folau's crap (No criminality in it) to suggest that the IRFU, Ulster Branch and the Aussies have shown the moral courage that is so signally lacking in the corridors of Twickenham and Allianz Park.

However, taking HW's example, I would be content if PJ, Olding, Folau and Vuniploa were subject to the same perverse form of Sharia that caught up with Callum Clarke on his return to Leicester last February.

I'm pretty sure that, as citizens, fans of LI aren't obliged to treat him as if he's innocent if they don't want to.
He's free from prosecution by the government, and I would imagine that an employer can't use the allegation as reason for dismissal; but everyone else can think and say whatever they like about the matter.

I'd also hazard a guess that the vast majority of the threats to boycott are so much hot-air, and possibly virtue-signalling; which will evaporate under the influence of reality og returning to the Prem, and 6 months to process the information

I think that Izzy Folau's full list of those bound for Hell includes Gingers, drivers who pick their noses at traffic lights and white women under the age of 50 who work in a Chinese takeaway.

FWIW I think PJ is a scumbag but my issue is quite clearly with some of these morons treating him like he's a rapist & implying that he is even if not explicitly stated. We know for a fact there's some repulsive and misogynistic stuff on that whatsapp group - if you want to hate him for that then be my guest but I don't feel that's what's driving these feelings on here or in the mob in Belfast back when he was standing trial...

It does feel rather shameful he's getting the chance to continue his career in the competition held in my country, on which basis I hope LI relegate. I'd offer to boycott but I can't imagine I'd be going to any LI home games anyway, and it's been a decade or longer since I bought any LI kit.
