Debunking the myths peddled about foreigners in the Top 14

Really interesting article about how it's a myth that too many foreign players in the Top 14 damages the French team, and how it's being used as a scapegoat for poor management and coaching. Worth a read.

Thanks Puja, I'll read it..

I must say I've never believed in it anyway, I think that the foreigners can be a formidable source of motivation.

For example the youngs Espoirs of Toulon have won the title this year, they are more and more licensed, and that is due to the hype generated around the arrival of those foreign players in Toulon..

There's another factor that can't be underlined : the Top 14 is the longest tournament, leaving the players with less time for recuperation than all the other nations.. It's a defining factor along with poor management...

But things are evolving, 16 jiffs next year means also, it seems to me, that the focus will be put on better coaching, better tactics with more speed..

One of the interesting things of the article is the argument that JIFFs are a bad idea and are a political move, rather than something that will make the league better.

All right, it remains to be seen.

Intéresting article yes,, thanks puja...

And on a megalomaniac note, I liked a lot his incompréhension about the fact nobody was underlining the high number of games the french players played, compared to all the others..
Something I've spent years to say in here much to the defness of all those Who don"t want to see that this makes a huge différence.
When you talk about fitness and récupération it's just obvious..
