England v SL Tests

Post by Stom »

So, the summer's tests are about to start, how does everyone see England doing?

Vince wouldn't have been my choice to replace Taylor, but I can understand why they've gone with him. With the form of Root and Bairstow, our batting looks in good shape, but I worry about the bowling. Broad has been upstaged so far in the CC, while Finn has been very hit and miss.

I still think we should win the series with ease, though...

No way we can use the stupidity of a May test in Yorkshire as an excuse, though the person who thought that a good idea should be fired, our batsmen have basically just wanted to hit fours and shown a lack of patience such it would have infuriated KP

Never judge a score until both teams have batted :)

I've just seen the score. WTF is going on? Dodgy pitch or are England swinging it round corners?

Inexperienced SL batting, good swing bowling, good pitch. Only Hales and Bairstow scored for England too...

Could be a flop this Series unless this collapse in a ' one~off ' .

Great to hear James Taylor on commentary after his premature retirement

Doing a good job too

Anderson and Broad looking a constant menace

It is hard to see this as more than English bowlers do what they are supposed to in helpful conditions.

The same questions are still there:
1. Is Hales going to be a long term option. This is a series long question.
2. Is Compton good enough?
3. Do England have their batting order right? Their most inform batsman is in at 7.
4. Ali - is he a batsman who can bowl? Or a bowler that can bat? At the moment he is neither. Borthwick would almost be a better option as the batsman who can spin it a bit. But neither are out and out spin bowlers that are needed.

I hope they play the young 'un rather than Woakes in the next test. Put more pressure on their batsmen to do their job and give the young lad experience.

England a bit sloppy, chucked away all their wickets so far!

Bairstow needs to be played as a batsman only, prob instead of Vince, and recall Buttler. He drops too many easy catches.

Who cares if it's rained off. We all got to see Cook attempt a ramp shot in test cricket. To make it even more glorious, the ball came off the toe of his bat.

What a finish to the game last night.

Buttler and Woakes excellent.
