Rankings update

Post by Sandydragon »

Apparently we are now 9th after losing to Argentina. The list is:

South Africa - 94.20
New Zealand 88.95
England 85.44
Ireland 84.85
France 83.87
Australia 83.48
Argentina 83.15
Scotland 82.02
Wales 80.59
Japan 79.13

Much consternation amongst the readership of the Fail, but does anyone really care? World Cup seedings aren't up for grabs and I'd rather have won the 6N and be 9th than come 5th in the 6N and be 3rd.

Normally I've got a lot of time for the rankings as I think they're pretty accurate, but the past 24 months of disruption, cancelled fixtures, understrength teams, and empty stadia negating home advantage have thrown them right out. Give them a full international calendar year of proper fixtures and if you're still 9th at that point, probably worry.

Not worried. The rankings don't adjust for the effect of Lions tours. It's a pain but I'd rather build depth when it doesn't really matter.

Fair points. People calling for Privac to resign and for a state of emergency to be declared are hugely overreacting.
