Scarlets v Leinster

Post by Wallpaperman »

Rotten start for the Scarlets again, conceding a try on 40 seconds but they scrapped well for the rest of the first half, and are 5-14 down at the break. Conbeer, Rogers and Mcnicholl look lively when they get ball, and Gareth Davies made one cracking break too. Leinster definitely the better side though, able to hold on to the ball for far more phases than the Scarlets.

Hope the Scarlets can kick on in the second half, but I’d be amazed if there aren’t more tries for Leinster.

Ugh. Scarlets keep the ball for pretty much the first 5 minutes of the second half, concede a penalty in midfield, penalty Leinster, try from the lineout. 21-5 Leinster

Shame, Scarlets break from their own line, gorgeous from McNicholl, great run and chip ahead from Conbeer, Steff Evans just outpaced by the full back. Would have been an absolute cracker.

Yellow card Dan Jones, his fourth offside penalty conceded tonight. 5 metre lineout, initially held up but then disaster. McNicholl comes in to defend an overlap and knocks on. He only used one hand, definite yellow and penalty try. 28-5 and down to 13 bs Leinster. Peel will be going for the rosary beads

Credit to the Scarlets, they win a few penalties in the Leinster 22, ref warns Leinster but Scarlets lose their 5 metre line out. Not sure how many lineouts they have lost, must be 4 or 5 but their scrum has been very good.

Yellow card Leinster, another lineout in the 22

Scarlets knock at the door but don’t get there. Another penalty, Gareth Davies (who has played pretty well) kicks it dead.

Scarlets back up to 15, played well when down to 13. They carried quite well, Kalamafoni, Jac Price and Willgriff John all did well. Having typed that Willgriff gives away a scrum penalty !!

Scarlets give another penalty away, and Leinster show them how to do a driving maul. Penalty try and Gareth Davies is now in the bin. 35-5.

Scarlets let a few tries go begging but no arguments with the result. Leinster’B’ team win in Llanelli by 30 points. Hope we get better from the other regions through the weekend

Bloody hell. Llanelli won the league not that long ago. Now they can’t seem to win a game. I hope our other sides have more success but I’m not optimistic.

Is it time to concentrate resources and reduce to 3 or 2 sides? Simple east and west?

Not sure, my gut feeling is that there is enough talent for four teams to be competitive, but I don’t see any of the regions as nailed for the top half of the league either.
