Re: Toulouse Vs Tigers - Sunday
Been looking forward to this game ever since the fixtures were announced!
Two full-strength sides, a full house and a good weather forecast!
And a winning bp for Leicester

I am so glad that we're going for this. There's a relatively solid chance that we'll lose and not get any league points out of it, and we may as well have sent the reserves over to get pounded for all the good this did, but I want us to front up and have these players and this team see where they are. This is the best club team in Europe and this is where you should be wanting to get to. Go see how good you are.

Horribly difficult game. Hopefully the England players will rise to the challenge.

That's where I am. I'd rather us going down swinging than not even bother and just get down over by 80 points. Hopefully it'll be the kind of experience the team can build from. You never know we might manage to bag the four tries if it becomes a try fest, like we did at Bordeaux.Puja wrote: ↑Fri Jan 17, 2025 4:53 pm I am so glad that we're going for this. Toulouse's attack is sublime. Their backs haven't really had to do much it's the forwards getting a metre over the gainline and popping to a charging forward. Just devastating the Tigers fringe defence.
I don't see it getting any better at halftime, Ben Whitehouse and the commentators are making it an evening harder watch than anticipated so might skip the second half stuffing.

Tigers have scored a try, so theres something to cheer about.
The scores from the European games have been largely poor but that was really to be expected. Fact is we dont have the teams with the kind of squads that are needed to compete with the big boys in Europe.

correct. No money/caps combined with inconsistent player dev. Nothing that new tbhfivepointer wrote: ↑Sun Jan 19, 2025 4:49 pm Tigers have scored a try, so theres something to cheer about.

From a Tigers POV it really highlights the need for some smart recruitment and development. We just couldn't live with Toulouse up front. Need to find some answers there an ensure we make the most of the lads coming through if we want to have a hope of competing in future years. Ilione came on and did alright, smashed Dupont man and ball which was nice. Hurd and Whitcombe had decent cameos off the bench. Need those lads to learn from this and kick on.

Toulouse are an absolute joy to watch. I thought we might have a bit moe than that, but fully expected to ship at least 50. It is far from a level playing field, but regardless they are just sublime!
