Yeah, Wales butchered at least 3 tries in the third quarter, we came out pretty passive I thought after half time. Got the Daly headbutt try and added more momentum with subs.FKAS wrote: ↑Mon Mar 17, 2025 10:56 amWe weren't going well in the second half though. Wales came out firing and we scored a lucky try after the ball came off Daly's head and Mitchell latched onto the rebound. Ford came off the bench shortly after and did the onfield coach bit then created two tries.p/d wrote: ↑Mon Mar 17, 2025 10:07 amIndeed. All the talk about justification for his selection is hogwash. Not sure the exact score but we were probably 30 points to the good with Fin going well against a side that were in tatters.Oakboy wrote: ↑Mon Mar 17, 2025 9:57 am
Compared with leaving Fin on, having Marcus there or having a centre/FB there etc., yes I'd still ask the question. SB judged the low standard of Wales well to the extent of having Ford as a luxury for the last 20 but would he ever pick that 23 against a stronger team?
Fin played well but as a team we stalled at the start of the second half. Bringing on the experience of Jamie George and George Ford helped in my opinion. Not sure I'd repeat it as a tactic (well Jamie George I would) but it worked on the day.

Ten tries: half by starters; half by finishers. Of the five by starters two were by debutants (one, positionally).Banquo wrote: ↑Mon Mar 17, 2025 12:37 pmYeah, Wales butchered at least 3 tries in the third quarter, we came out pretty passive I thought after half time. So, two by CCS, two by Pollock, one by Freeman at 13 and one by Roebuck - that's arguably six by players who punditry, largely, would not have picked in the shirts.
Borthwick, should he know how, may well chortle a smidge perhaps.

Yeah, his is my read on it too. At the very worst, he came on and gleefully hammered the nails in the coffin.FKAS wrote: ↑Mon Mar 17, 2025 10:56 amWe weren't going well in the second half though. Re: Team for Wales
Have to say I was really impressed with versatility of some our guys in that match. CCS looked more than comfortable as a back up loosehead lock and Earl likewise as a back up inside centre. I still see them as primarily backrow options but it’s a great testament to their respective skillsets. I also think Earl has been a bit underrated as a fetcher, whilst he’s a different type of openside to B Curry or Sam Underhill ( who are in turn subtly different from each other) he’s more than handy at poaching loose ball. It’s early days but Pollock seems to be in a similar mold to Earl with a similar degree of above average pace for a test flanker.
I do think we need to hunt for another tighthead lock as back up to Chessum. Whilst Martin when fit would certainly offer the grunt and ballast he needs to develop much more of a carrying game imo. I also think Tom Curry merits another Lions spot but as a blindside rather than an openside as for me that role suits has style much better to these days.

I must have missed us romping to victory in the third quarter of the game then and our only points not coming from Daly's noggin. Your comprehensive argument to alternative is somewhat lacking in details.

There was a peculiar highlights show on YouTube featuring a Welsh fan honking on bagpipes. Frankly you get what you deserve
