Don't know what was offered by who but this is disappointing.

Possibly good for him. Don't know who Gloucester have in the back row (though think Mercer's leaving) so it might mean he can nail down a starting spot, which is unlikely at Glasgow. For Glasgow, though, it would have been good to get at least another year or two from him after all the faith they have shown. Maybe with Brown and Ferrie, they feel they have enough, but this season has shown the depth you need.

Now it’s reported that Leicester are sniffing around Franco Smith to replace Cheika. It’s RugbyPass so it could be bollocks.

And, in contrast to Edinburgh, and with a mishmash team, Glasgiw score seven tries in an away win against Dragions.

despite an awful start, and going 10-0 down
And we left several more tries out there

Jack Mann Mom - easily despite being subbed with more than 15mins to go. Absolute machine. Ollie Smith at 13 making breaks and half breaks for fun

Downside - 3 hookers in the squad, 2 got injured. McKie also injured b a late tip tackle and had to go off. Just a pen according to out apprentice Irish ref who was awful

How did Munn go?

Glad to hear Ollie Smith do so well. Potentially a real star but had a funny disrupted career so far. If McKay's out, he may get more time at full back.

Lots of talk about Franco Smith leaving. My ideal is him just staying at Glasgow indefinitely as my feeling is he may be better for Scottish rugby there than anywhere else. Obviously, though, we can't make that decision for him and wouldn't begrudge him an international role at all. Can't decide if lining him up as Townsend's replacement is a good idea. I have beem a big Townsend fan but can see that a fresh voice might be a good thing. However, I am not sure Smith's strengths necessarily translate that well to trying to make the transition Scotland are trying to make. Not saying no, just undecided. In any case, I hope Scottish Rugby have a shortlist ready for both pro jobs.

Munn was quietly effective. Much more involved than v Connacht, no obvious errors

Oh and I should have mentioned Fin Richardson. 2 games and 2 clean breaks, scrum again good, made his tckles and hits his rucks, another impressive display even if subbed early second half (ref took against Bhatti, wrongly, Smith changed both props). Richardson is looking like a keeper.
McBeth also came on. he will be vying seriously with Bhatti for first pick in big games

Good news, though assumed he would stay. Be very interesting to see how he develops.

Any idea what kind of amount these players are paid before their first "pro contract"

Very impressive win in a gale. 42-0 with Dobie getting 2 tries and MotM from the wing. Hastings probably had his best game since he's come back. Oh, and Horne got the try he needed for the record.

if I were an Edinburgh fan I'd be praying for gale force winds next week

TBF to Lions Glasgow were terrific in the conditions for 40mins, then terrific in defence facing the gale

The game also made me wonder if Grant Stewart might become the new Dave Cherry at some point.

He already has a few caps of course. On current form, I'd say he should be preferred to Mathews for Glasgow. he is also a big unit to help in the set piece
Stewart is an odd case. Through the academy to full contract, played well enough then suddenly let go, never really establishing himself as #1 or #2, but neither did he flop.or do much wrong. His problem was that Glasgow had Brown, Turner and Mathews as senior hookers, and Fraser and Hiddlestone as new pros. Something had to give. Fast forward and Brown has retired, Turner in Japan and the 2 tyros injured. Opportunity knocks

Yeah, he seemed to go straight from promising youngster to veteran who wasn't needed any more without the peak in the middle. Hopefully he can keep it up now he has a second chance as his basics seem decent and he's got something about him round the park.

Good win objectively, and there was some good play and good individual performances, but I don't actually think Glasgow played very well there, or at least not in the backs. Their passing just seemed less crisp than sometimes.

Tough to judge in this nonsense cup though. Teams resting players for a knockout match in what keeps getting billed the best club rugby tournament in the world must ring alarm bells.

Huge match next week in Croke Park. Would feel a lot more confident with Cummings, Tuipolotu, and Jones fit, but let's give it a crack.

we left a few out there, but played really really well. The physicality developed last season was back in spades. Read a few fears about our scrum pre game, well that was put to bed with interest. Fagerson did as Fagerson does, and McBeth I think is now first pick at Glasgow (and I am a big Bhatti fan) his scrummaging is a level above the rest of Scottish loose heads. He is a beast.
Don't really agree about the backs - we had Leicester in real trouble with our usual moves and the sheer pace and power of Steyn etc. I would say of course the consistent and continual rapid ruck ball made that easy. As did Leicester's poor kicking. Stewerd anonymous even under high balls and Pollard looking a huge waste of salary budget
One small point on injuries. We won't have Jones, Tuipolotu back next week. I doubt we will see Cummings or Williamson. Mathews failed an HIA and may struggle to pass all return to play protocols in time. And Jordan took a knock - but unlike Graham at edinburgh, Jordan was whisked off straight away. I think he could have played on but no risk taken

Good win last night.

Silly by Venter and he'll be sitting for a few weeks.

He can mount a reasonable defence? He was in a headlock, unsighted and was just trying to free himself? Though I don't think it'll get him very far

I think he'll be lucky not to miss next week. It's undoubtedly contact with the eye area. There is some potential mitigation but that didn't look good.

pretty sure you stay banned until the appeal is heard. Otherwise several dozen Irish players would have used this route already, just as they use AIL fixtures mid 6Nations as one of the banned games

always a big ask to play v Leinster away. Just got a lot harder
Leinster seem to be at full strength 23. Glasgow now missing Zander (concussion symptoms after last week, as well as Tuipolotu, Jones, McKay, Dempsey, Cummings, Sutherland, weir and of course Venter.
Plus is Williamson on the bench

Yeah, would take something really special. Jack Mann not listed as injured. Surprised he didn't make the bench.
