Re: 2024-25 team kit announcements
Well worth £75 for a plain white t-shirt (with blue shoulders and an iron-on badge*"
* Reportedly, said badges are already peeling off, having gone on sale all of 3 days ago.
I can't imagine that other clubs suffering from Castore are fairing any better, and most of their football clubs seem to have left them mid-contract

I prefer the recent Samurai offerings for Tigers way more than I did the variations on a template we got from Canterbury. Using a smaller company that's going to do more than run off a template from their software but in your colours gets you a more interesting shirt design, just have to make sure they've got the means to manufacture quality shirts. Those Castore ones look poor value for money.

To be honest, Canterbury seemed to have dropped in quantity hugely since the early 00s.

Fingers crossed for Samurai but as it's about the £££'s probably Castore, that's if the clubs can actually agree on things which isn't a guarantee.

Tigers' Euro kit, complete with original(?) badge

Yeah the club changed the badge in the late 90s. The previous coat of arms was I think relating to the city so wasn't something they could trademark. Hence the stylised Tigers head that's been in use since, which they could licence and protect.

Re: 2024-25 team kit announcements
I was pretty sure it was the previous - and that explanation rings a bell. I wasn't sure if it was the original though - more covering my arse, rather than statin "original" for someone to say "Well, actually, the original crest was XYZ, and we changed to the city coat of arms in 1892"

Bath seem to have released a Euro shirt for Racing Pumas, instead of Bath rugby

Glasgow have a very similar one and it throws me off every time thinking there has been some mass exodus of Scottish players to Racing.

Surely these things get picked up long before a kit actually goes in to production.

Re: 2024-25 team kit announcements
The players just all look intensely bored in that photo. Granted, it was probably accurate (and less nauseating than the "YEAH" and "ROAR" faces that a lot of other clubs make players pull in photoshoots), but it's not making me excited about getting a Euro kit.Which Tyler wrote: ↑Wed Oct 30, 2024 10:14 am Bath seem to have released a Euro shirt for Racing Pumas, instead of Bath rugby

Re: 2024-25 team kit announcements
England have a new kit deal, as Castore have bought out Umbro's contract and have apparently upped the price to £5m per season. Good bit of business by Sweeney if it's as financially rosey as reported: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/rugby-union ... 6de8l8gwyo
Can't imagine anyone will be sad to see the back of the football kit that Umbro saddled us with, and it is quite nice that it's being produced by an English brand as well, but hopefully Castore have learned a bit from their initial forays into rugby and will be a bit better quality.

Re: 2024-25 team kit announcements
I have a Bath Castore shirt from this year.
It sizes small (XXL is [very] slightly smaller than my 2005 Lions shirt in L)
It's see through - especially the white hoops
The badge is literally part of the printing
I guess they don't want it to last more than 1 year before you need a new one.
I'd be mildly disappointed in the quality if I'd bought it from Primark for £7, it didn't cost £7
The only positive I can see is that they give a lot of money for the rights - which, TBF, is an important positive.
Oh, and the range beyond replica shirts is... minimal and unimaginative

I've never heard anything positive about Castore, they just seem to be aggressively buying their way into the market.

Re: 2024-25 team kit announcements
They have a terrible reputation with Villa fans. The quality was horrific! A large part of why they moved to Adidas was because the players were complaining so much about the kit.
This feels like a really shit move, but at the same time looks to be a decent financial move.
Oh for the days of having a nike kit!
