So Abi has confirmed that:
Four regions to continue
Equal funding
Closing a region would not see any benefits for 2 years or so.
The debt would be shared across three not four entities which would reduce the benefits.
She equates the funding level to that of the Scottish sides, although other reports suggest they are closer to £8m rather than £6.5m. That’s still short of Irish and French teams.

Re: Where do we go from here!
I think as a matter of priority is the need to get the DoR on board. If they can’t appoint the permanent coach then offer Sherratt the opportunity to take the team to Japan for the summer tour.
He understands continuity of selection and seems to have a good rapport with the players and coaching staff.
Japan will offer some respite from the ‘goldfish bowl’ and the possibility of breaking our duck.
Things can only get better - can’t they?

Yeah, I hope so. But that's like I still can't believe Italy can beat us. My emotions haven't caught up with reality. Truth is, we could fall further.normanski wrote: ↑Fri Mar 21, 2025 10:00 am I think as a matter of priority is the need to get the DoR on board. However, it should be easy to run a less shambolic coaching team than Gatland, if there's any truth in this:

Yeah, I’d prefer that they get the recruitment right and if the successful candidate has a notice period, then perhaps Sherratt or Mark Jones could take the tour on a temporary basis.normanski wrote: ↑Fri Mar 21, 2025 10:00 am I think as a matter of priority is the need to get the DoR on board. Re: Where do we go from here!
If the Fail is to be believed (admittedly a big if), the WRU is going to recruit a deputy Director of Rugby because Dave Reddin is not thought to have enough rugby experience to do the role alone.
I accept fully that the CEO doesn’t have to be a rugby person, n some ways it’s better if they are not and can look at the entire business. But surely the requirement for the DOR is an understanding of rugby. Reddin worked with the 2003 England team so isn’t a stranger to rugby, but has experience across a lot of other sports which isn’t a bad thing. But one is left wondering if someone like Lancaster might have been a better bet to overseas the national coach.

Re: Where do we go from here!
Did they hire him with the intention of getting a deputy too or did they only just realise that his CV isn't exactly ideal for the job? I expect we'll never know.Sandydragon wrote: ↑Thu Apr 17, 2025 5:46 pm If the Fail is to be believed (admittedly a big if), the WRU is going to recruit a deputy Director of Rugby because Dave Reddin is not thought to have enough rugby experience to do the role alone.

Re: Where do we go from here!
Good question. Reddit has a good CV and if the intention is that he will build a professional structure then I think he is well qualified. If he needs to talk detailed rugby tactics with a coach then perhaps less so. So maybe the role developed into two during the recruitment process.Son of Mathonwy wrote: ↑Thu Apr 17, 2025 5:58 pmDid they hire him with the intention of getting a deputy too or did they only just realise that his CV isn't exactly ideal for the job? Reddit was a bit of a left field candidate given the names that the Fail was throwing about.

Meanwhile our women’s team has just chalked up back to back wooden spoons.
Plenty of room for improvement across the. Entirety of the WRU
